Here she is basking in the sun.  The  rotors are drying and other parts are not shown. Decals are next and then some final weathering.

Looking good.  Can't wait to see the final product.  Did you decide which markings you will be putting on her yet?

I just finished with the first set of decals.....I cut away the white square from the Cav emblem.

I may try (on some scrap) a few attempts on a Snoopy idea I have....he's pretty easy to draw.

I used a scull from a 1/35 helo decal sheet I have and put it on the front pylon.

Its starting to look like a HOOK!....can't wait to take the material off the glass after a few dull coats!

It's looking great, and we can't wait to see it finished.  It's a mean looking son-of-a-gun.

I love the snoopy picture.  It looks like someone had a similar idea a few years later.

Mr. Primm may be correct.

This would be cool!

Except.....make Snoopy's tail and ears whirl like the rotors of a Hook, put a big grin on him and put his arms foward firing M-60's......whatitya think?

Dude, you can't forget Woodstock!  Put him in Snoopy's front paws firing the M-60.  Yah!  That's it.

So how big is that thing?  About three feet long?  Wink [;)]  Can't wait to see her all finished.  Look'n good, look'n good!

Cheers,
John

It actually isn't as big as you would think.  Fuselage is  17.5" long, add another  6" to each end for the blade overhang.  Total length from blade tip to blade tip is 29.5".   O.K., it is pretty big.  Big and beautifull!!!

Yeah, lots of windows, but you also have to modify the fuel pods and come up with a new cockpit enclosure (the civil version has weather radar which gives the front end a profile similiar to that seen on MH-47Ds and Es), leave the ramp and hatch off, change the rotor blades. Move the forward landing gear forward a bit. etc, etc.

I worked on one of the birds they bought from Donald Trump for a while...I figured out I was in the wrong place when it started snowing (in July!) on us while at a field  site at about 6000 feet on a hill in the vicinity of Enumclaw, WA. I decided to go to work someplace where it didn't snow in July and where I could go home every night instead of living out of a kit bag and changing motel rooms every couple of days.

That's exactly what it is.  HMH-464's CH-53E 162255 A/C 16.  It had to be painted over a couple of years ago.  I did it myself.  I wouldn't let anyone else paint it over, but it lives on in the form of a tattoo.

I can't wait to see the Machine Gun Snoopy design finished.

OK.....

Snoopy it is!.....but painting woodstock at that scale would be tough....I'll try some tests and see what I can do.

I vote for the Red Baron Snoopy and Woodstock design.

Kinda like this, but withsome guns on it and maybe Woodstock flying in the back seat. Similar to what Frank showed.

Not me!

I ain't talented enough to scratchbuild/modify all of the stuff it would take to change even a D model into one of Columbia's 234s. Shy [8)]

A decal wouldn't be that hard to do.  All you need is the artwork from John (AirMedical) and to print it onto computer decal paper.  I would go the decal route.  Good luck either way.

AirMedical,

I'm going to wait and see the update kit Cobra Company is doing before tackling the Trump, and also looking forward to the upcoming 1/48 release from Italeri.      Yes, there's a soft spot for a 1/48 version... Wink [;)] http://modeling.gunsagogo.org

Jonathan,

A "234".... yeah, that would be nice! Wink [;)]     Interior and all!    Evil [}:)]    Wouldn't that be a beauty? Wink [;)]

Take care,

Frank

A 234 as used once upon a time by British Airways would be nice but all of them belong to Columbia Helicopters now, and they pull all the stuff out of the interior stuff and put in a small-ish interior fuel cell in order to maximize the amount of weight they can lift.
