Did Marines use uh-1d/h in VietNam

Just picked up an old airfix Sea Knight off Ebay for a few quid. I know this probably isn't the best model of this helo, but it's a start.

Yes.  The H-34s had a pretty long life and I think there were quite a few still around during the  TET offensive of '68 (not '69).

From Global Security webiste--

"In August 1969, the last Marine UH-34D in Vietnam was retired from HMM-362 at Hue Phu Bai."

Rich  -  Note that the Airfix CH-46 represents the A model with the narrower rear pylon (?), which is appropriate for the earlier part, at least, of the Viet Nam war.  There are lots of action photos of them.  You can also drop the ramp if you need troop acccess.  If you wanted the later D/E/F models, Fujimi makes them in 1/72.  Don't know when they started in USMC service.

Many thanks for that. That will be perfect for me as the pegasus set supposedly depicts the Marines c 1965, so that should fit in OK. The set depicts a few Marines bent over and running, so they could either be under fire or running out the back of a CH-46 or probably both. I think it would make quite a good dio.

Have you made this model at all? Any tips greatly apprciated.

Not usually.  Usually, one helo unit with one type of helo supported one infantry unit. 

The Airfix CH-46A is pretty nice.  I did a dio with one for a customer with some Marines coming down the ramp.  It was for his dad who flew them in Vietnam.  I did his aircraft.  He loved it.
