Skis!? Ever since the 6519 "fell" through the ice on the first arctic deployment they have talked about ski's. (The pilot was told not to land on the thin ice but nooo, she wouldn't listen. So she was the first female pilot to land on the ice and the first to break a solid composite part on the aircraft too) Anyway, skis have been part of the 65 inventory since then, we never used them in Alaska when I was there, nor the other northern climes either. The gear cannot be retracted with the skis on. Thus maximum forward airspeed is reduced, something that no one likes. I don't recall how long it took to remove or install them, but it wasn't that long an operation. I think I remember the stuts had collars on them to lock the gear down, but it is fast approaching 10 years as retired. . .insert old smiley here. Don
I know it's only rock and roll, but I like it.
