Yes I am still here. This will be my last full year here and then I head back to the factory. I just toured our hangar and we have three W's in various stages of teardown , and some Taiwan IDF's , a couple of other jet trainers, and a Kamov counter rotating bladed helicopter operated by Vancouver Island Helicopters. I am going to miss being this close to aircraft, after 45 years. BUT I get all excited about models.

Hi Ray:

I don't know for sure. The folks at Langley make it difficult to track who owns or operates these aircraft. I'm sure the registration number could be tracked however was it leased ? ,and what company actually is leasing it might be a good novel someday. Some civilian littlebird models also came to the Baghdad airport while I was there. You could always tell the government guys as they had all the nice equipment

That is neat, Ray. But NOE ain't all that new.

I used to work for the Tulare Mosquito Abatement District back in 1970 and Ronnie Light, rest his soul, flew like that 6 days a week. Now I know the military was surely doing it then too. And I don't mean this as a slight to any of our fine pilot friends out there. Just saying that civilian ag pilots have been doing for quite awhile, too.

The Iraqi's obtained the BO-105 from several sources, including Spain. Spanish versions were modified with the raised skids and 20 mm cannon just like their own. They called it the Bo.105GSH. If you don't find pics of the Iraqi aircraft, pics of Spanish aircraft should suffice.

Jon, this sounds like your turf. Any word in the grapevine on whether these will be museum pieces? (Or maybe refurbished for other......tasks)

These look pretty trashed.  I remember seeing pictures of a row of new looking BK-117s with the tailbooms cut off.  Story was we did it so the insurgents couldn't fly them against us.  What are the chances of that happening?  I think we did it so we could sell/give them Hueys.

Does anyone here have any photos or color profiles of these aircraft actually in Iraqi service? This scheme gives me an entirely new idea for the little 1/48 BO-105 kit I have lying around. I'd love to see what would have been mounted on the side armament pylons.
