I just bought my AH-1W today! Wal-Mart has 3 on the shelf (almost bought 2). The "pilot" figure is not really accurate, in fact I'm not sure what he's supposed to look like. If 21st Century puts out a group of helo crews, that'll round out their helo collection.

Polyphenus...

I really haven't been to a hobby store around here in a while. I used to go to Discount Hobby Warehouse off Convoy St (between Armour and Balboa) but I think they went out of business. There is another place off Convoy and Armour called "Hobby People" but I haven't been in there yet.

I usually buy models on-line, but the last four models I bought, I bought in Singapore (recent business trip). Got a very good deal off the exchange rate. ~$27 US for Academy's 1/35 MH-60G Blackhawk.

Sorry I couldn't give you more...

hey guys, I saw a bunch of the Cobra at the Wal Mart here in Georgia. They had about 10 of them , $40.00 .They look way cool! I havent seen the pache yet, but then again I havent been to Toys R US in a while. Not sure what the Cobra is going for on Ebay, but if anyone wants me to pick one up for them, Id be happy to. But Id imagne theyll hit your stores soon. Check the Super Walmarts, thats where these were. The local regular Walmart doesnt have them yet, they just have the P-47s.

I gather that you live in the San Diego area by your posts. Which hobby store do you frequent around these parts? I'm tired of looking around Target, Wal Mart, etc.

ALL:

Check http://www.badcataviation.com for the super sized AH-1W. It's listed under 21st Century Toys but showing not scheduled for release until Jan 04. The site lists the Cobra as 1:6 scale but I'm guessing it's a typo. It's in modern colors and depicts HMLA-167. Looks pretty good.

From what I've seen, the only problem with the Super Cobra is the front canopy opens on BOTH sides. Don't know about the rear. Oh well, can't have everything. Just another bit of surgery to perform when I get mine!

Yup, they're out. I've seen a few. Other than the canopy problems, they look GREAT!

Jon,

Thanks for the scoop on Wal-Mart. Went last night but they only had a bunch of P-47Ds (about 20 of them @ $39.99 each). Will keep a look out.

Polyphenus,

Got the Blackhawk from Toys 'R Us yesterday. Thanks for the tip.

All,

Ended up getting the Blackhawk ($60.00 each) and the AH-6 ($19.99 each). For those who haven't gotton the Blackhawk yet, it's HUGE and takes up a lot of space. Will hang it from the ceiling in my office. Thanks for the tips in locating them.

Carl,

Yup, 21st Century Toys has an exclusive contract with Wal Mart now for the 1/18th series (they're stopping distribution to Toys R Us from what I've heard). The XD line is now produced for Wal Mart under the "Motor Works" line, even though it is technically 21st Century's XD line. Can't wait to get my hands on the Cobra. I may try to backdate one of em to a G eventually!

Jon,

The AH-1W is the large 1/18 scale, correct? I've seen the 1/48 scale die cast Cobras in the Wal-Mart off I-15 in San Diego. Will keep an eye out though. Thanks!

Polyphenus,

I live around Qualcomm Stadium. I went to the store off Mira Mesa (by Miramar). Going to try the one over by Linda Vista this weekend. I'll also try Chula Vista as well. Thanks!

Dragonfire--

What part of San Diego are you? The two Toys R Us's in Chula Vista should have both the Little Bird and Black Hawk. I bought the Little Bird ($20) a couple of months ago but $60 is too much for me to pay for a 1:18 scale "toy." Maybe if it comes down in price...

Carl,

The AH-1W is available exclusively from Wal Mart. I stopped by the local Wal Mart last night and they had the Me-109 and the P-47D. I haven't seen the AH-1W in the store yet, but I know it's out. Have you tried ebay?

Can't wait to get my Apache!

I just went to Toys R' Us last night and they had (9) AH-64s on the shelf for $59.00 each. I'm looking for the AH-1W and the Blackhawk...has anyone seen them in the San Diego Area? Thanks!
