Howdy oldhooker, As I've already told you, I have a growing logjam of questions I want to ask about the 'Guns a go go' birds, and I will wait to make sure I am asking them in the correct forum, but I do have one burning query if you don't mind?............ Whatever became of the "Go Go Rock"? :-) Tread. Semper Fi. |

Hi Tread,
I'm so sorry it has taken so long to follow up on this; tax season has me pretty much snowed under. I apologize, sir.
If you'd like to start a new thread with the questions you have, that would be just fine because others may find it interesting too. It's hard to tell whatever happened to the "Go-Go Rock" at An Khe. The "Golf Course" was still intact in 1999, but have never heard any comments concerning it.
Here's the last picture the Go-Go'ers took of the rock, made about 2 days after Hue '68, with two of the men who were on "Easy Money" when they rescued the crew of "Birth Control"; Bruce Salley and Jim Bradshaw.
....and here is the same two fellows, 38 years later, by the mock-up of the Go-Go Rock at Redstone.
Comanche,
First of all, thank you for making pictures of the old girl! Yes, the paint has faded a lot, but the Go-Go'ers seem to like it better that way because it looks more like it did in Vietnam. If there's any way you could put the pictures on CD and send it to me, I would be more than happy to put them on gunsagogo.org for all to see. Message me if you'd like to go that route and I'll send my address.
Take care,
Frank
