Revell huey hog 1/48 WIP

Thank's Charlie , I certainly appreciate your assistance with the color of the pilots uniform . As your a retired military helicopter pilot , it sure is great to get accurate information on all aspects of helicopters . Your experience and knowledge really does help the scale modeler greatly. If you are going to build a pre 1980 Huey, the primary army flight suit was the 2 piece nomex. I loved the 2 piece and did not give mine up until the last allowable day to wear them. They were in my opinion more comfortable than the single-piece flight suits that replaced the two-piece nomex. As to color they really were not a khaki green, but more a khaki brown. If you can match the color of the outside skin color of the B-model that rotorwash placed in this thread you will have about the exact color. They were funny because they faded differently. Some remained lighter shades of green, but most faded towards the brown spectrum.

The gloves are nomex green on the tops and gray leather undersides. If you go back into the sixties many of the gloves were pure leather. They were gray.

I was waiting to see if anyone was going to suggest what colors to paint the pilots . I looked through my model kit files and found a Hasegawa AH-1S[AH-1F] Cobra instructions .  The paints are Gunze Sangyo .  I just started my second Monogram Huey , I'll be adding the pilots on this build , so I'll follow what I posted above . I hope this helps ...John

Forgot to add the figures before adding the window, I just remove the window and add the landing gear of the copper. Unfortunatly this cheap kit doesn't say the color of the figures anywhere, can someone fill me in.

Been a while here, been busy in the armor forum.

Another update, both half are together, but will need another coat of OD.

Doing good Progress, just about done of the interieur but its not easy keep the windows clean.

Now I'm assembling the two half togther but I'm gonna nedd alot of gap fill.

Like Gino said, there are plenty of helicopter experts here to help you out with accurate references. The pics that Ray (rotorwash) posted are perfect for the aircraft you are looking to build.

It looks like you already have a good start on the drivetrain assembly (I hope you haven't glued in the rotor mast yet -- it is usually best to leave the rotor off until the very last step. Even then, I place mine on the aircraft loosely, without any retaining collar, so it is easier to transport and less prone to breaking).

Anyways, if you follow rotorwash's guide to the interior colors, your bird will really be on the right track! Keep us updated with your progress

Thanks for that, Arty! Like I said, "I WOULD DO IT .... and AFAIK (which means "as far as I know").  The implication being, of course, that I don't know for certain, but am not afraid to make some input. Don't fear to go where you haven't been before, my man!

I appreciate the efforts to post the great pics and, of course, your tasteful reminder . They are both excellent and do set the record straight for the particular birds shown. Fantastic!

Alright! thanks guys I knew the color was neutral gray (like the Puma) but I didn't had any referance and did know about the seats.

The helicopter is know in 5 pieces but there still some work to be done, I'll keep contact.

Don't take this the wrong way, but...

Please don't give info on subjects that you have no idea what you are talking about (just like the incorrect info in the AH-1T thread).  It only confuses people and adds nothing helpful to the discussion.

Just trying to keep the forums accurate and full of correct and useful information.

  Here are some interior shots of a UH-1B at Ft. Rucker.  Be advised that the Huey Hog kit isn't very accurate.  There are lots of threads around here on fixing it.  Or just have fun building the bird and let it go,just have fun, I say.  anyway, here are the pics:

Id paint the metal structures like floors, bulkheads, etc, interior green, just like you have it. Use silver to depict edge wear in places where feet scuff and weapons nick off the surface paint. I'd do the frame of the seat in silver, too, just becasue I've seen them like that and to add a little interest.

That diamond pattern behind the rear seat I'd do in grey as it was a sort of soundproof padding, AFAIK.
