Very nice use of that Kapool, I'm still waiting for a HGUC version of that kit, the old turn A one isnt really worth much, but you did a nice job with it! (since im in the know about that, starting modeling with gundam I can say that the kit is a 1/144 scale Kapool kit, that came out on the Turn A gundam line. http://www.gundamstoreandmore.com/ban72570.html )

I agree it really looks like its working with the STUGs.  I am hesitant to say repaint it though, because the paint job looks great, really intimidating.

Manstein, I can tell you from experiance that getting 1/144 figure kits isnt so not the easiest thing, especially ones doing what you want.  I have seen some, bandai put a few out with their Hildolfr kit, its 1/144 and the molded mechanics to go with it, those are some tiny figures.

On closer inspection I noticed a few details (with some help of a friend's eye ) The Rubbel, specificly, its to one color, could use alittle variation (IMHO).  That isnt what really bugs me, the part that bugs me is none at all fell into the street. Why

Overall im impressed, I want to see more from you.

Very interesting. Nice buildings for a first dio...damage looks convincing...what about figgies? Doog has a great point about the robot being a different color to draw the viewers eye more towards it and also to differintiate it from the dark yellow stugs...maybe it was just easy to paint them all the same color as you did them at the same time? Anyway...for a first dio, very good, and imaginative...

This could be a cover for the "Wierd War" comic series, remmember that one?

I can see the caption now "Master Race's Greatest Weapon Turns On The Masters!"

Thanks for the clarification, Reechart----You know, I hate ot say this after reading your description there of what the concept was, but....

...if I were you, to be honest, I would repaint the Gundam.

It just looks too much like the German armor in the same color--Dark Yellow. That alone is really confusing to me!

I would go for a darker color--maybe even a darker blood-red--or possible even a metallic silver/bronze?--so that it doesn't be mistaken as belonging to any "side". I really feel like that would help "tell the story" so much better in this wonderful dio.

As it looks now, with the same color paint--it's a little bit confusing...

My first impression was "Whoa! that dude is p***ed!"
I agree on the debris in the streets. At the very least it needs to be dusty.
I think I would also add--if you can-- some cracks or something to the streets, something to show the sheer mass of the robot and make it look like the just stepped there. I imagine those things aren't light. The buildings to me look more like something from Soviet Russia than Europe, so the tanks would make more sense if they were Russian, t-34's or something, maybe. That's just a little thing though; not enough to ruin it, by a long shot.

I love the buildings, they look very realistic, and the crumbling walls are very well done. I think you should be proud of you first dio!

It looks pretty good to me, but by your comments about what else it could use it seems as if you're not finished yet. One thing I would add is with all the destruction in the scene the streets look as if the street sweeper has just passed through. You need much more debris in the streets to match the rest of your scene.

Your first diorama is great!  It is so detailed and interesting, I don't care what was used or the story line.  I have a good imagination and can make up my own story if need be.  Love the robot monster thing!  The painting and detail are really fantastic.  Thank you for showing it.

I was going for a past meets future urban battle scene. The Mecha is grasping one of the bombed out buildings support beams and is leaning out to opened up one of the STuGs. Trying not to give the viewer any clues as to what time frame this took place I kept the buildings rather nondescript. I had planned on including a few figures as well. Not sure at this point what else it could use.

The robot mecha character is 1/144 scale gundam model. The german tanks are 1/144 scale dragon models. Painting was done with enamels and weathered with acrylics, weathering pastels. and denatured alcohol.

The base is pine with bristolboard roads and sidewalks painted with acrylics.

The buildings are scratchbuilt from foamcore, bristolboard, plastistruct I beams, and various architectural window frames from a railroad model kit.

The oil drums are 1/144 scale model railroad parts.

The chainlink fence is scratchbuilt using plastistruct poles and tulle a wedding decoration material. The ground foliage is flocking and foam shrubbery.

The rubble is various sized balast, sand and foamcore.

The telephone poles are 1/144 scale railroad models.

The lamposts are scratchbuilt from plastistruct bits and pieces.

Yeah, what the doog said as well...  The best doiramas are ones that tell a story, and tell it without the builder having to write a novella about what's happening...  Although in this case, as with  most Sci-fi, it's best that you write at least a little bit about what's going on for those that aren't sci-fi fans and may not get it...

Honestly, it's really VERY cool!

But what's the storyline? Is it a German robot-monster-thing? Or are the StuGs running from it?

Please give a little bit more info. Thebuildings and base look very nicely done--what'd you use? How'd you build it/them?
