Static Grass Question
Posted by plasticjunkie on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 7:09 PM
Is there a trick to getting the static grass to stand up on the base without spending a lot of $ for a static gadget? I've seen the gadget that works with a 9V battery but its quite pricey. I have also tried the 'upside down shake' method but it just doesn't work that well. Can a home made gadget be rigged to produce the static charge?

A balloon rubbed on one of the dogs works for me. Just pass it above the ground terrain and viola, the grass stands. A piece of plastic will also work if you don't have balloons and you can use your own hair (if its dry) and or the carpet, piece of wool, etc. Anything that builds up a static charge.

I sprinkle it on wet celluclay, wait a few minutes, then put the vaccum cleaner to it (pass it over a few inches from above)...what the suction doesn't pull up, stands up...

renarts

Thanks so much. I grabbed a piece of wood moulding, I rubbed it on the carpet then passed it over some loose grass flock to experiment and it sucked it up like a vacuum cleaner.

Where in Florida are you located? I lived in Miami for 30 years, then in Davie for 10 years.

Thanks Manny, that sounds like another good method.

Glad it helped.

I live on Merritt Island between Cocoa Beach and the mainland. The shuttle launches and my house shakes. Was just in Miami last week for a schutzhund trial. You won't miss it. Too overbuilt.Smile [:)]

A comb in your hair works great too!
