Would you believe, I was so worried about the new job as announcer and thinking about how late I would be getting there before they got the car rolled out for pics, that I forgot I had my tripod in the truck and could have done some timer shots with me in the pic? One of the main reasons I didn't think about people pics is that the crew had been all nite getting the car clearcoated and ready and were in NO condition to have pics made! LOL

Nice coloring! But I think your car dio lacks a figure. The next time around, stand full size beside your car!

Thats a great looking car Mitchum,is that considered a  street stock? its similar to what they run up here on pavement street stocks now have aftermarket 5 star bodies, and just stock front clips. No more going to the scrap yard getting fenders or doors then gutting them like we used to do in the 80's-90's lot easier to pick up a phone and order body parts I remember getting DQ one feature cause I had a homemade front fender no one around had one so I used my English wheel and planishing hammer and made a "quick" one got protested and lost the race....

Mitchum, that looks great.

Pinstriping and hand lettering is a dying art which is a real shame as the vinyl cut letters just doesn't have the same look. It's good to see someone is still out there doing it like the "old days"!

I hope your son continues the tradition.

So long folks!

.........the more they stay the same. An old friend of mine from the dirt track days decided he really didn't like cut vinyl lettering as good as the old fashioned OneShot and quill brush style lettering so he asked me if I still did that sort of work.

My son, who had helped letter a car with me for him almost thirty years before, had bought us some new lettering brushes and paint to do some cars a while back so I said yes when he asked if we could do his new ride.

As luck would have it, after we finished up late Thursday night and were gonna shoot some pics on Friday, he didn't get it finished in time. my son had to help judge the car show today and I wound up going by and taking the pics before I went to the track today.

My son is now the track photographer at our local track like I was thiry years ago and I'm gonna give announcing a whirl this year but, due to the circumstances, we lettered the car and I wound up shooting the pictures exactly like we had done almost thirty years ago when my son was ten or eleven for the same car owner who now builds the cars for his son.

I love the way racing is a family sport now and I get the biggest kick out of seeing my grown son follow in my footsteps, red mud and all, at the races. Life is good!

PS   This really is a full size car. LOL
