The same base color on the rocks is fine. They are all likely form the same geologic process. What I do with rocks, natural, comercial or home made is  to give them a heavy wash of Payne's Gray oil then dry brush with vasious shades of lighter gray, light tans, off white or very light rose colors.

the biggest problem withthe tree is that it's out of scale withthe tank. I looks like an HO tree which is scuplted to look mature but doesn't present the height next to the KV.

Nice KV-2 T-rex it looks good!

I think the one thing on the ground work that stands out the most is the big rocks are all painted the same light gray coulor maby if you changed the coulor a bit thay might look better. I think for the tree it looks a bit to green compared to the rest of the dio and the fact that it's all by itself, If you darken it up a bit and maby add another tree it would look better IMO.

The figures are also a bit shiny but not to bad exept for maby the guy on the fender he stands out a bit.

It's not a bad dio though and it's a cool ideaCool [8D]

Ok, so maybe its not the greatest dio in the world, but at least I tried, at least the water doesn't look yellow anymore (thank you woodland scenic water effect)

My brother says the scene look like its autum or even winter, because the water looks like slush ice, and the cat tails are dead, and there shouldn't even be a tree. I don't know, but I think the dio look's great, and thats all that matters.

Hey T-Rex,

First of all, it;s an impressive and ambitious effort. The scene is pretty well composed, but the elements outside of the two tanks themesleves could use a bit of work.

The groundwork is ok, but you need to invest a little time inlearning how to do vegetation more effectively. My first thought was "Where's the grass?!" A pondside scene would have tons of green vegetation-water is a great facilitator of growth, so you'd have vegetation everywhere.

Th water doesn't quite cut it, but you proably already know that. But having said that, I do commend you for taking the effort to try it. The best way to do muddy water is in layers--use epoxy type water, and use a thin wash of mud-colored brown in between three or four very thin layers.

You should paint ALL the crewmen--isn't that one on the fender without paint?

The tree looks out of place for two reasons--1., it's the ONLY one, and 2., it's the only piece of greeen vegetation in the scene! There should be MUCH more.

Welll, hey T-rex; it's a learning experience, right? And if you've made one that you feel is better than the last, then at least you're moving in the right direction, right?

Keep improving...Smile [:)]

Finally finish KV-2 dio

Its been a while, but manage to finish my 2end diorama, this one simply called "On the grassy lake shore".

Staring trumpeter KV-2 with Iraleri's ruissan tank crew looking at a unfortunate BA-6 armored car (Eastern express kit) stuck in the mud in the lake, althoguht I should have put more effort for its interieur, but it was a cheap kit.

Althoguht the water doesn't look very realitic, does look better than before, I tried to make it look muddy, rocks are reall, just painted neutral gray, and the catail is grass.

This diorama is much better thanmy last, becasue it really tells the story by the tank crew poster, and the abandon car, but it doesn't look right, and that tree feels out of place. What do you think?
