Don Stauffer Polyester resin is one answer. Many craft stores sell it. It is used for decopage, and for casting paperweights. It is a two part thing, like epoxy, but cheaper and clearer.

A tried and true method indeed! Smelly and a little messy probably the best choice for and significant area of water. For small puddles, I would use Vallejo Still Water
I used it to fill the bottom of a 1/35 scale fountain and bucket--very easy to use.
Buy it where you buy your Vallejo paints.

My main modeler uses clear resin, I'm not sure it's epoxy resin or polyester resin, but it's a two part thing. It can be used on road or off road. It can be bought at hardware stores. Sample pics of its use:

As the topic says. I'm making a base (road) for a 1/35 model and I'm thinking about adding some water over the road. Any tips or good sites, mostley on what to use for clear water would be great.
