The Last Full Shoe
Posted by Dwight Ta-ala on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 4:21 AM

Somewhere in occupied Russia a German officer is having his boots cleaned by a Russian shoe shine boy at a street.

His attention was captured by a recon team passing by while his Kubel was parked just across the street.

It was just an ordinary and uneventful day or so it seems.

But just across the street on the 2nd floor of a ruined building, a Russian sniper lurks. His sights aimed at the unsuspecting officer.

Could this be the last pair of shoes that the officer will remember cleaning?

Well this dio was inspired by the movie "Enemy at the Gates". It took quite sometime for me to put this together due to my busy schedule. Finally I can call it done although as you can see there are still a lot of loose ends and things to retouch or redo. Also this diorama has lots of accuracy problem. Anyway, I'll take it as it is for now. I originally planned to put a lot more debris and rubble but I changed my mind. I wanted to give it a more spacious look to give some sort of distance between the sniper and the target.

Anyway, comments are welcome.

The whole scene looks great.  I like the everyday items in the ruined buildings.  It really brings in the human element.  I love the sniper.  I knew he had to be there somewhere.  Great dio.

Great job on the whole thing. I agree with some others, it looks finished to me. The only thing missing, inspired by the movie... a bar of chocolate for the kid!

Great work!  I really like it!  The open spaces and "serenity" of the scene kinda give it an ominous presence too; you can almost hear the dramatic music slowly increasing in the background as you scroll through the pics!

Your interior stuff (i.e. piano, bookshelf, table, chairs, bed) are they scratchbuilt or AM resin pieces?

Again, excellent dio and very nice work!!!

Everything you see in the background (except the Lamp Post from Mini Art) were built from scratch.
