Yes.  Styrofoam breaks easily.  It needs some type of support when used as a base.

definately. Unless it's a very small base for a vignette or something. It could bend, buckle, break, even chipped away without plywood. GO to home depot and pick up a bunch of the stuff for 2-3 bucks.

I would.  Styrofoam isn't really strong enough to support much weight by itself.  A stained and sealed wooden base always add to the finished look of the dio as well.

I've used a urethane glue for the base I am currently working on.  No problems with adhesion!

If you use styrofoam as your main base should you glue it too a piece of plywoood?
