'Highway of death' diorama
Posted by Tiking on Saturday, October 12, 2019 2:11 AM

WIP: Been trying to Improve on the damage look.

I have been trying out different techniques and diorama design styles for some time now. Been working out on the 'Damaged scattered' look, and car damaged look. Haven't been able to decide on a possible diorama look but been working on variations(at least two). Still a work in progress... Let me know what you think so far!

OOPS !!

   Were you at my friends fire? He went to the store. On the way back his 2018 Ford F-250 caught fire. There wasn't even a door left. Lots of little melted pieces of Aluminum and what you have there, minus the door. ALL the body of his truck melted.

    We now call him Fireball! Surprisingly, I was at the scene, I just couldn't see him. What with two pumpers on scene and four patrol units I didn't get close enough to let him know he had a ride . Turns out it was an electrical short in the power slot in the console. Started burning and caught the plastic grocery bags to burning. The rest is history!

      He saw it,smelled it, pulled off to the side and got out of the truck just before it Flared up like a bomb! No burns, just one P*&&@$ off Ford Truck owner!! Looks just like your pictures!! Nice job!  T.B.

I really like your techniques, it gives me some ideas for my Fallujah diorama I am working on. I am going to post it tonight or tomorrow perhaps you can have a look and give your opinion on placement for a destroyed truck. I have done some work on the truck but seeing yours makes me think I should do some rust effects.

I think its just mediocre needs something?

Glad to help. Btw, I cannot see the pic you just posted. Also, did you take a look at the 'highway of death' diorama?

That looks great.  Really nice work - I'm a big fan.  You should go to Hollywood - lookup John Rosengrant.  He's made a career of our hobby.

Thanks,

John

Well;

      You certainly used up a lot of model parts. I hope that was to reduce your parts box. I also hope you continue the fine work.As I said earlier the burned up whatever ( just the frame and burnt everything else) Looked spot on. My friend was only upset that the firetruck ran over the intact twelve -pack of Coors that he had tossed out of the truck. The fire-man smirked at him through the windshield!

That looks terrific!!! Just love what you've done there! Looks just like some photos I've seen, thankfully I've never seen an accident that bad in real life...

That is just fantastic! Your level of detail is supurb! Everything looks spot on to me, looks like I'm looking at an actual scene.
