I am working on a 1/24 scale diorama of the HMAV Bounty's launch, with figures of Bligh and the other 18 men who were set adrift with him. The launch is currently on a temporary base that portrays its final orientation on the planned sculpted ocean base - surfing down the forward edge of a long low swell, slightly heeled to port. I have finished 18 of the occupants of the launch, each of which portrays an activity described in Bligh's journal. The 19th, and last, occupant will be lying amidships between the rowers, resting on water casks and the carpenter's chest. Several pictures of the model appear on the Pitcairn Island Study Center site, and an earlier version of the model recently won second place in the 'ships' category and 'most artistic' overall in the online Naplak model contest.
