Modeling Water???
Posted by Awood23 on Sunday, October 3, 2004 10:51 AM
Im sure this has been asked a hundred times in this forum but I need help with making water. I want to do a PBY Catalina tied uyp to a dock and I've seen some awsome water displays done with, I think., something called two part resin?? The biggest problem have is living in Belgium and not speaking the language I cant ask for help cause I dont even know what Im talking about. If any one here knows not only what Im looking for but what its called in Belgium and where I might find it I'd be gratefull.

This stuff dries clear like paperweights. Infact I think this is the same stuff used in them

"RĂ©sine" is the French word for resin, Awood... "Deux composants" will be two components/two parts..

Get yourself in touch with local modelers, there's plenty of clubs in Belgium (do a search on IPMS Belgium, you'll find the contact details of the branches, for a start). They tell you where to go.

Well howdy! Wink [;)]

I'm a model railroader with more intrest in modeling than just the trains. There is a product we use to make scale water sceans, and I think it's what your looking for. It's called Enviro Tex and is normally used as a clear plastic coating for table tops and pictures. Us model train nuts use it to create everything from rivers to oceans. With a little practice you can make waves as it cures and it looks quite real.

Here is a link to the stuff. http://www.sculpt.com/catalog_98/CoatingMaterials/Envirotex.htm

Here is what my friend did with it. Check it out. http://www.the-gauge.com/showthread.php?t=5611

I hope this helps you out.

TrainClown,

Well, although I didn't ask the question, it appears the Enviro Tex may be just what I'm looking for, for my ongoing Titanic diorama, which should be at the "just add water" stage within the next month some time. Thank you very much! Smile [:)]

Take care,
Frank
