Nice stuff.

The most amazing dio similar to this I have seen in the following book:

The dio on the cover is very impressive, pity it can't be clearly seen in the image.
Might have to do a scan from the book directly.

Model Museum,
If you can post any of the pics that would be great. I have seen a couple of this and it is fantastic. Heck, build a model of yourself building models of yourself...
Seen a couple of others that I enjoy. There was one at the US Nats of a modelers desk complete with unbuilt kits and a few finished ones.
Also saw pics of a complete hobby shop done in unknown scale which was very complete.

That is awesome! What a great idea Smile [:)]

The guys who do the off-beat stuff are really cool. It takes a lot of courage, skill and imagination to stray from the flock.

He is top-notch, stopped competing now as he won the last 6 competitions nonstop and was kindly asked not to attend anymore. He started of doing Architectural buildings and later on went into models.

Interesting thing about him is that he was in an accident that destroyed half his face and he lost one eye.

BTW, he does everything from WW II, to Kaiju and Gundam Dio. Had a chance to talk to him for some time a few years ago at a competition I entered.

Would love to see a showdown between him and Max Watanabe(Max Factory), but I believe Max Watanabe's health is not good enough form him to do that.

Ok, here are some pics.

They are big and not too hot in the quality department, but those are pics of the Dio.

Those are quick scans from a book showcasing his Diorama. I learned a lot by studying his books and was lucky to get hold of a tv-shows where he competed/modelled and it was inspirational and an eye-opener.

Mr. Yamada is indeed and amazing modeller. He's actually a regular host on TV Champion these days, since they won't let him compete anymore!
I'm fortunate enough to have the opportunity to meet and talk with "Yamataku" several times a year at various events, and he's a real nice guy as well as a gifted modeller. Seeing his works in person is a real treat.

MM, what's up with Max? He's in poor health? I've noticed he's not in Hobby Japan much these days.

I don't think they do, you can find their work in Hobby Japan and their Books.
They seem to works mostly under contract for Hobby Japan(Bandai).

Yeah, he is in poor heatlh and lost a lot of weight.
I also think his Curry restaurant flopped.

From what I hear he is no longer modeling but now the tutor for a lady that works under his guidance.
Atleast i have seen him and her on a few Gundam modelling books.

Quiet a few of the greats are in poor health unfortunately, said to see one of the top sculptors hugging an oxygen bottle
during the intreview session at model shows.

Sorry, for the late reply, only came across the thread just now.

Tigerman,
I know that Gavin makes use of a lot of Wargame stuff. Some of these range down to the 5mm scale. I think he used a 1/700 B-24 for the Lady Be Good dio, another good source.

Good Max news: apparently he's doing some hands-on modeling seminars in February and March, so perhaps he is feeling better.
I've seen Ogoshi Tomoe, Max's "student," at several modelling events, but always on her own. She's in HJ regularly, too...but Maxless.
He is one of the greats.
