It might be a small difference, but I just can't bring my anal self to do it...besides the more I think about using the Steyr, the more I like the idea. Especially the idea of showing the burned out engine compartment!

Well...after much searching on the Internet and calling hobby shopsBanged Head [banghead], I can't find my 1/35 scale Daimler...Disapprove [V]...So, I've decided on Tamiya's Steyr Command car and the after market engine kit to push the 'look' over the topCool [8D]

Any hot leads before I order it this Friday???

Thank you all for the suggestions. Last night, while at dinner with the neighbors, my diorama came up in conversation. This Swiss couple are German born and were toddlers during WWII. It was interesting hearing their stories and being toddlers, their memories of that time was mostly of the air raids and that it was more of an 'adventure' and not as terrifying as you would imagine.

Anyway, they both agreed that a Diamler automobile would probably be a good choice. Now which kit manufacturer makes this and where would I find one??? So far I've looked through my Squadron and Roll Models catalogues, but I've either missed this or they don't offer kits of these autos. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!
Eric

The ususal Mercedes cars of the late thirties are the obvious choice but there were also a lot of car makers who exported to Germany in the boom times of the lte twenties and early thirties as well and some cars would still be about in the battle for Berlin.
Citroen, Opel, Peugeot as well as the less abvoius Horsch , Maybach etc.
Good luck, Cheers , Pete.

Eric-there's also a Citroen Staff/civilian car in 1/35-by ICM or Maquette-Tamiya makes a 1/48 but may do a 1/35 version. These cars were ubiquitous (sp?) in WWII.

Hi all

I could really use some suggestions here...I'm currently working on a diorama depicting a street fighting scene during the battle for Berlin and I need to find a 1/35 scale model kit of a civilian car to use as a burned out hulk.

First of all, what type of car would be apt and second, since I'm basically going to 'destroy' it, I'd prefer available kits that weren't too pricey...maybe in the 20 to 30 dollar range. However, if it comes down to it and I can find a kit that'll create more accuracy, I'd be willing to spend more.

Thanks!
Eric
