id get two thin wires and wrap them around each other, cuz powerlines are not just long wires, if u look at them youll see..

Reb you can stretch sprue to be any size... .
any thickness, you just need to regulate the strength and speed of your pull on both ends!

I agree, stretched sprue can be stretched, and shaped in any way, with a little practice.

Try Using fine wire that comes looking like its cotten on a roll,its heavy cheap and will look good.

Try using .020" electronics solder. It stays where you put it, unlike wire, string or other materials. A spool of solder, available at an electronics shop, will last several lifetimes worth of projects. Plus it is good for many other applications as well.

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions in regards to the fire hydrant. I painted it red, washed it, and weathered it. I am not sure if it is accurate, but it looks good, and adds a little color to the diorama.

One more question- Does anyone have any suggestions on a material to use for power lines on telegraph poles. I tried using surgical suture, but it does not appear heavy enough.
