Kawpum Kap for the invitation! :)

Actually I'm quite familiar with Bangkok, and with some of the islands in the Andaman region off the coast of Phang Nga, down south. Very big fan of the Koh Phrah Thong / Koh Samui area. In my opinion, the most beautiful place in the world.

The very essence of Buddha's teachings sums up in three words : Everything is transient!

Jerry, I'm in Bangkok - the capital of Thailand. Welcome to take a tour of my country first.

That's a good idea. I'll keep that in mind. When there's no more space to keep them all, maybe it's time to start selling some of them out... and E-bay is sure a good choice.

I sell everything I build-

A lot are done on comission or I Ebay the rest. I get anywhere from $150.00 (for single vehicle, etc.) to $600.00 for dios, etc. No where near what I have in them (Not even at $0.05 per hr.) but it keeps the shelves empty for more kits and also helps pay for those kits.

There are a ton of collectors out there who would love to buy your built stuff- I bet you would be surprised- I know I was. And after selling a few the comission requests come in. Start at 5X kit value for basic builds - 10X for lots of aftermarket, etc. Take lots of pics and lots of correcspondence is mandatory- Comission is OK- make sure you WANT TO build that kit- building something you dont like makes modeling work- and we all have enough of that-

Well, it's good as long as I have the space to keep them. But I'm worried about the future, just a few years from now...

A couple moves ago I left a lot of my completed kits packed in moving boxes with bubble wrap and styrofoam peanuts as protection. When I opened them up, the styrofoam had fused to the paint. I ended up scrapping a bunch of them and repainting others.

Even with that, I think I'll have storage space problem in just a year or two now that my main modeler had quitted his other job. Now he's making models full time, for me alone. Waking up at 6 and working through late evening everyday, he can churn out 5-6 pieces in two weeks' time and that's over 120 pieces a year... Before long, I'll face the same problem you guys are facing - storage space. :-(

holy heck thats an impressive collection of plastic! =)

lol ya wow that is a great collection. For me right now i need to have a base for each model i complete. It feels naked unless its sitting in it's own spot lol. Of course alot of times the base takes longer to do then the model lol.

I'm still a novice builder, so whatever I complete, I keep them for the time being.  How I store my kits? I put them in shoe box and then seal it with shrink wrap to keep dust off of my built kits.

I do exactly the same thing.  I recycle almost everything I make.  I'll build it and get bored of the way it looks, then tear it apart and re-add and re-paint onto it.  The only thing I've ever kept was my national hobbytown 1st place tiger.  Lately I've been pretty good at keeping them alive, but I used to really re-arrange a lot.

Well, this is a bit extreme, but this is how I deal with my diorama storage problem. If it isn't a IPMS show winner, I don't keep it, I recycle it. It may take me a year to build, but if it isn't a first place winner, it's history! While I don't think most folks could bear to do this to their own work, it keeps my collection under control, and the only ones people see are all first place winners!

Ok guys, the dio's are pilling up.  All you guys do such great work.  But once they're finnished what the heck do you do with them?  I like to keep mine small scale, 1/72 stuff of course, but there is still finite amount of shelf space. I live in an apartment and I'm lucky if the cat doesn't go into crush mode. And what about you guys with the big ones?  Where do you keep em?  They're so small and delicate.  How many of you have had the wife or significant other drop one (mine dropped my very first one the day I finished it, breathe, calm blue ocean, calm...)?  Let me know some of your stories. Post some pics of the lot of 'em.  Oh web guy Redirect this if you think it doesn't belong here.
