Omaha Beach diorama figures, need lots, any ideas? Also, realistic bullet splashes?

OK, Ian. As promised, I have got the pics for you before midnight. Photos don't do justice as to the quantity of stuff. You could make Omaha several times over








Like I said in the email, anything that I've already built or started, I'd throw in for nothing. Use guys as filler, use LCVP as wrecked (That was my next plan for a Beach dio; wrecked. partiallty sunk with casualties all over, based on some reference I've read).

Highlight and copy form the original page and paste it into the text box at Babel fish. The translation can be rough, but you may get the gist. However, that may be Thai or Vietnamese which are not on their list. It's definitely not Japanese, Chinese or Korean.

I know, that picture is just incredible, the water looks like it has so much depth and that deep green churned up sea color.  If you want to see more pictures of it, I found it by going to google images, typing in "Omaha Diorama".  If you click on it it takes you to a website, then you just find the picture of it, and theres about 20 more pictures.  Unfortunately, the page is in ?japanese?, sorry I dont know other languages well.  Does anyone know how to translate it? Can't help with the dio Ian, but the dio you posted there for reference is amazing! It has got to be one of the best dios I have ever seen, the water is extreamly well done, don't know you could get better!

Wow SteveM, amazing how lucky I can get from replies in this forum!  Ill drop you an email later tonight in case you dont read this, but I would definately love to hear what you have and how much you are asking.  I have no great LHS, and if I have to buy each thing from seperate websites shipping can rack up pretty quickly.  What Im interested more or less is, as i said before US infantry/rangers/medics/casualties/ suitable for D day, also as I said they dont have to be perfectly realistic, just close.  Also, Ive been looking for hedgehogs and/or other barricades.  Posibly some of the sand depending on what I can find here. The LCM i have been looking for is the italeri one, as it comes with the 3 crew, 6 figures of the 29th infantry and some nice barrels and such, I  found one on ebay thats around 48 US dollars or so, so thats probably what ill get, but if you find one cheaper anywhere please tell me.  The trumpeter one looks just as good, just doesnt have the 9 figures which is a nice bonus. Also how much were you asking for LCVP's?  Sorry this is so long, its just that like you said, you have just about everything i could ever need for this.  Lastly, Im not sure if I specified before, but for vehcles and figures I use 1/35, no 1/72.  Im not to picky about things like barrels, hedgehogs, accesories etc, though so they could be anywhere from like 1/30 to almost 1/40.  Leave me an Email at IanIsBored2000@yahoo.com if your interested still! EDIT:  I forgot to add, I prefer unmade things, I like getting to build it myself.  However this isnt to say I dont want anything thats made at all. Also for figures, its not a big deal if theyre already glued together, since I can just paint over them however I like or just leave them if I like them.  But like I said my first choice is unmade stuff.  Thanks again.

Ian, the more I think about it, I have everything you need, including an LCM (new), 2 LCVPs (1 new, 1 started), the Trumpeter LCM crew, real beach sand, the works! Let me know if you're interested. 1-stop Omaha dio shop, if you want

I would suggest LCM3 Crew from Trumpeter (sold separately, 3 figures) and perhaps
US. Support Weapons Teams (6 figures) from Dragon. I still have Trumpeter's LCM3
in stock, but won't use it for dio because the base will have to be huge. I don't have that
much space. My modeler built a small dio under the same name (though with wrong
vehicle). He used just 6 Omaha Beach figures from Dragon :

This cracks me up, because this subject was my second dio. Wound up being 4 feet long. Has got 35+ men on it.

Mainly I used:
Tamiya's West Euro Theater, Assault Infantry, Combat Group -used mulitple sets of eachand changed around like you said

Dragon's Rangers, 29th Infantry

Even used germans' torso and legs to make variations, just place them in the water.

I have pretty much gone to resin figures. I have TONS of plastic figure parts leftover, including lots of hedgehog barricades, gear, weapons- you name it. Still have some fully mage guys that didn't make the cut for the beach.

Do you want this stuff? This leftover stuff is over a hundred of dollars in worth. I'll cut you a GREAT deal. It is, after all, just taking up my space. Write back or email me: stevefbm@yahoo.com to discuss. I'll get a list of everything that I'd part with that related to the Omaha project.
