First of all, your work came out quite nicely.  Like what above poster said, tire should have been destroyed or shredded by the mine blast.

The thought never crossed my mind, of course the tire would be shredded. Something to work on.

I made some changes, I tried to improve the damage from the mine.

An overall view of my first diorama.

Are you going to add some figures? That's the one thing that instantly pops inti my head, like, "Where's the people?"!

It looks good for a first dio, but lacks "life" without some dudes running around or repairing the truck...

Just a thought--The Doof mentioned having guys reparing it.  I agree with figures being a good idea, but judging by the rust around the blown off wheel, it would appear as though it's been there a while and took some decnt damge, so I'm not sure anyone would be repairing it.  Just a thought.  I love the way you modeeled the damaged wheel hub though.

...I like the execution of the work but what is your story-line?

I really don't have a story line. Always liked the Quad Tractor and 25 pounder, I stumbled upon the Airfix house and recalled it being a favorite as a kid, so I put them together for this diorama.

I really just wanted to work on the modeling skills and go from there, thanks for all the comments. I will get to the figures as time allows and post new pics. Thanks again.

Got to this one a little late, but maybe this'll help. Some ground damage maybe? Small hole?

Wait a minute, see that barracade fence on the front right side of the truck, I bought a kit of those but there were no intructions of how they fit toghether, Smile [:)] yes, thaks now I know of how it goes, maybe it will be good on my dio's.

Very nice scene htere, the mine damage looks good and the artillery at back good too, I wish my diorama was that great.

that's the kind of damage I'd expect from a command detenated 81mm mortar round. A buried 105 round would have gotten well into the engine block and just about everything forward of the front wheels would have been blown away. That and the driver at least being WIA if not KIA. A small anti tank mine will be at least a hundred fifty pounds, and probably closer to 250 pounds. A anti personel mine would have blown the front wheel off, and maybe bent the spindle, but that's about it.

I have that same kit, and really like it. So far I've found the PE for the howitzer, but still trying to find a detail kit for the tractor. You did a nice job, if I may say so. Is the tractor pretty much out of the box? I planned on doing mine in North Africa as I've found some nice pics (one even has German markings on it!).

Yes the tractor is out of the box, only change I made was the tarp on the roof. Got rid of the plastic one and made my own from paper towel and glue.

I was going to mention the amount of damage but someone else did it for me. That modified shredded tyre looks better, but the damage is still pretty light, I reckon. It's unlikely that an anti-personnel mine would have been placed on a road; more likely one with a bigger bang, which would have ripped the front off the vehicle at least.

But one fundamental flaw I noticed is that the limber is heading toward it's gun. This means that it must have left the gun recently, and probably travelled down the same road before returning. The road isn't wide enough for the vehicle to have missed the mine the first time, so someone must have placed it there between trips. Considering the proximity to the gun & crew, it seems unlikely that an enemy would have been able to sneak in and plant a mine on the road. Not a criticism; just my observation.

One more small observation if I may. A blast that's strong enough to take the wheel off the vehicle would probably leave a reasonable sized crater in the road.

Nevertheless, a nice, simple diorama with a story... well done. Add a few figures in realistic poses and it'll bring some "life" to the story.
