Take dry leaves and put em through a shredder. Should look fine and its really cheap.

Might look through the scrapbook section of a craft store. I dont know if you'll find one but might. My mother does this hobby and she has a TON of those little shaped paper punches. Good luck

I hve been looking for that elusive "leaf paper punch" for a couple of years now. Alas, the closest I can find in those scrapbooking sections is a maple leaf punch- for more like a 1/16 scale. A tree that big would consume my life and hobby room. Don't worry, I'm still on an ever-vigilant hunt for the perfect 1/35 leaves. I'll post whenever I do. Until that day, catkin seeds it is.

I use loose leaf tea, or just rip open tea bags, cheaper brands seem better.

Hey Petr, I was wondering if you could find a tutorial from this guy for painting faces. He's really good.

Hobby-Lobby carries neat little leaf punches. Also, one of the issues of FSM reader tips has a thing about leaf punches..."makes about 1/8 scale leaves perfect for dioramas. check your local craft store. they come in a variety of shapes and sizes and retail for about $5"

This makes working an eye splice into fly tying thread seem far less insane!....even in 1/130 scale! Geez! and I thought persuing the 1/87th scale willow tree was an impossible dream!

Lead me not into temptation ..................I can find it myself

Well, it can, and it can't...That's fascinating work on the leaves, but I can't tell from the pics what he's using or how he's doing it. Is he using tea leaves, or is this some modelling product?

Thanks so much for the help, his work is amazing. the craft store punches are nice but in 1/35 scale they are just too big. i think for now the tea leaves and catkin seeds may have to work, i think i may make a punch similar to the ones used for bolt heads on mmy milling machine. i appreciate all of the research from you guys..

the links to the other page is great for now the methods he uses will have to be done with the available products, i will post if i get some punches made.

Thanks again,

Gary

Hey Gary,

If you've got a Hobby Lobby or Michael's close by, check out their "dried naturals" section in the floral dpt. Some alternatives there as well. I've loaded up on some of their stuff.

Hi Gary

I just finished a 1/35 tree myself with almost 5000 leaves (birch seeds). Each individually glued on the tree and painted.

Hope you like it

best wishes

"5,000 leaves individually glued and painted"?!?!?! Man you're one sick puppy!Laugh [(-D] (just kidding of course--looks great!)

Gotta say though, your diorama output must be PAINFULLY slow at this rate?! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]
