trying to locate pic of diorama
Posted by basementdweller on Saturday, August 18, 2007 4:49 PM

I am looking for a picture of a diorama that was posted on here before. The diorama was of a landing craft that was sunk with another landing craft on the water surface, it was really amazing. I assume it was based on the Normandy landing.

I have had no luck trying to locate it on this forum or anywhere on the web.

Thanks for any help.

Martin.

That doesn't happen to be it?

Not a sunken laning craft, but a dukw with a howitzer.

Thanks for your help, but I don't recall that being the diorama I was thinking of. I seem to recall the water being much deeper, also the diorama is only water - no beach.

I was wanting to show the picture to a friend, describing it does no justice.

However that landing DUKW is an amazing piece of modeling.

That's ringing a vague bell (all the louder those get at my age). Wasn't it a German boat or craft of some kind, and some of them were diving on another boat of the same kind to get the liquor bottles? I will look tonight and see if I saved a picture of that.

Here's the link:

You can type in "underwater dio" in the FSM search feature and it'll come up. However, when I clicked on that link in the post it gave me a "server not found" message...

Seems I remember the one your talking about. It had a sunken boat at the bottom and another vessel on the surface. There were also swimmers.

But sadly I dont remember where it was. It seems to me someone just linked to it in another thread and didnt actually display it here.

you are welcome mate

I know I should've asked the owner the permission but seeing many of links disappearing overnight thought it would be a good idea to put the pictures on my personal blog just in case. And it looks like I was right.

If the owner of the diorama wishes the pictures to be pulled down I have no problem with that.

Just let me know... ^ ^;;

I found it.

Go to www.militarymodeling.com

Go to the Forum Section, then to the Dioram section.  On page 3, find the post titled "Amazing Dio".  The Dio is called "Herr Hauptman's Champagne"
