On the topic of the dio, I really like the jeep. There is enough stuff on it, and the painting techniques you used, namely what looks like pretty heavy drybrushing, is of a style that I really happen to like. It also gives it a somewhat 'weathered' appearance. As for the LAV, IMO it is way too clean. You clearly drybryshed the edges of the front hull armor, but the effect is not as apparent as you move down further on the vehicle. The tires are also way too clean, with nothing in the treads, typically something I think you would see in a desert setting... Also, I think for the size of the dio, you probably may have been better off using only one vehicle. Using the vehicles to sort of outline the 'action' in the scene is effective, but maybe just to my eye it looks a little cluttered, with a lot of dead space on the ground. You did use some vegetation, but I think I would have used some more low ground vegetation. The three shrubs you used seem to look exactly the same. Also, maybe its just my eye, but the three you can see in the first pic, one in the upper-left, one in lower-left, and one off to the side of the jeep, to me they look like they are almost in a perfect isosceles triangle. As for the chicks in the dio, meh. I never built for anything but fun, and I don't see anything wrong with a diorama that is in good fun. However, considering your past comments in this particular forum regarding authenticity of scene and whatnot, well, I think you get my point. Sorry to drag this back into it, cuz as I said, I really could care less. I see nothing wrong with building for fun, but just kind of ironic considering the vehemence of your previous arguments. |
