1/72 scale diorama, part 1

Wow never knew cardboard could look sooooo good

 The buildings are the cardboard ones from railway model shop, i have added individual roof tiles made from paper and the  ridge tiles, then weatherd them with washes and pastels.Figures are various makes, resin crew and Pegasus and Revel infantry. I have decided to dismantle dio as i have come up with alternate idea for layout, i will update as and when.

as AL said  the parts are wonderful

tell us more about them ie: buildings manuf. the figure manu etc....

Looks great so far and I do agree with the Panther comments made by other, more expert posters.

When I first saw the dio, I was instantly and vividly reminded of a scenario within the game "Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood", a fantastic first person game set in the early days of the 1944 invasion of Normandy.

In that mission you are section leader of 3 airborne troops of the 101st and you have a Sherman to help knock out 2 PzIV ausf. H's, two PAK-40's and a lot of angry fallschirmjager. All ensconced in a village.

 

 

I think this is outstanding so far! The only thing I would change would be to take the panzer crewman off of the mantlet if the hatch is closed--it wouldn't make much sense to have a guy up there if the tank is "movin' out" and I'd hate to be him if there's any enemy or "jabo's" about and to have to worry about yanking open that hatch!

Instead of moving the shrubbery, why no just knock it down, like the Panther would've. Or trash the fence. Might bring some gravity to the big beast. Just a thought...

Your perfectly correct,its all abit trial and error at the moment,i yhink i will clear a lot of the shrubery out again before its finnished. The panther was just placed on there for the first photo,s.It needs a lot of work before im happy i exspect.Might change altogether as other parts are added,who knows.Andy.

The parts looks very good. The story line is a bit unclear. The position of the figures suggests action is moving from the lower right to the upper left where the tank is. But the tank can't get to where it is from the upper, middle or lower right. The alley between the buildings is too narrow and there are fences, trees and large bushes blocking the road. Quick fix would be to remove the yellowish shrubbery where the foot soldiers are. Otherwise, the tank has to have backed into position. Not inconceivable but it would be a cleaner more obvious story if it looked like it just drove in from the same place the sodiers are coming from.
