I APOLOGIZE
Posted by al41andall on Monday, January 28, 2008 4:55 AM

To Karl the DOOG and to the members of this FORUM :

In a momemnt of weakness I responded to a critique that was made of my work in an entirely inapproporiate, intolerable, unacceptable and ill spirited manner which betrayed the goodwill and spirit of the hobby, the FORUM and even my own closing salutation of "HAVE FUN AND HAPPY MODELLING."

I have no good excuse fo my behavior but I promise you that it will not be repeated.

I have already appologized to the DOOG directly but I want to apologize to the members here for exhibiting such a bad example of the spirit of the hobby.

I am truly sorry,

Sincerely,

Al

Al,

It happens to the best of us, and it's a big man that steps up and says sorry publically.

Public forums are a bit of an art form, as there is no facial expression or tone of voice to go with our typed words. People can come across more aggressively without meaning to, and it's very easy to respond in kind.

I try to post with the mindset that the person reading it could reach out and pop me on the nose if I annoy them sufficiently, and I find that helps. Of course, sometimes I get annoyed enough myself to invite it, but that's life! Wink [;)]

Cheers,

Bill

So long folks!

First off I would like to thank you for being a stand up guy and apologizing to Doog. I aint been here long but I know The Doog is a cool cat. I'm sure angering you was not his intention. Now enough brown-nosing.

I was extremely apprehensive to join at first cause I would read a corrosive comment a "Veteran Member" would post about some young kids pride and joy. Some kid somewhere worked his butt off to buy a kit, assemble it with bloody fingers and meticulously paint it...The wrong color. He then would post a picture and wait for the kudos to come-a-rollin' in. Instead he recieves a cacophy of "Wrong color!" or "Yer rivets are the wrong size!!" Initially I thought this was a bit rough. Why not just tell the junior modeler "Good Job!" and be on your merry way? Because anything worth doing is worth doing right. Without criticism Junior will decorate many more models with crappy paint jobs. I'm sure at one point in time even the great Shep Paine or the great Spanish modelers popping up nowdays were told "That sucks dude!" The feel good, tee-ball, everybody gets a trophy crowd has f'ed up America.

Good luck to you.

Cool dude. I followed those threads and was wondering what was going to happen next. It's clear that all of us static plastic heads are all cool in the end.

And like brothers, and sisters, we all learn from each other.
