I am in the process of building a diorama around the Blitz.  Here is my layout, haven't settled on the final placements yet but I did finish my stone wall today.  Still need to do a little brush work on that wall!

   Your truck is awesome Razorboy! Are you going to put it on a base? It really lends itself to a simple base with the way you have weathered it.

The windshield is dirty.  The reason that the "Holes" are there vs. a full sweep of the wiper blade is to provide a bare minimum of "Clean Glass" needed to drive, even the cleared spots have been allowed to haze over slightly.  I kept the majority of the windshield dirty in an attempt to kill as much relflective "Glare" as possible.... it's extremely bright in the desert and you can see a reflection from miles away.  Look at every Afrikakorps softskin picture you can find, the majority have filthy windshields - glare-killing camo., and now that I think about it, they probably didn't have a lot of water to spare for windshield cleaning either.

That is some really great brush work.  I am a big believer in making a vehicle looking very used... that is if it lasts long enough in the field.  One thing I noticed though and it is probably just the way the picture is taken.  In your second pic on your original post, the one that shows the windshield, is the windshield painted as part of a camo scheme or just dirty?  If it's just dirty then the contrast of clean to dirty is pretty dramatic.  If it is that dirty I would think that the wipered part would be pretty streaky.

And I know you are going to hate this but once seen can't be unseen.  Have you ever seen the Disney movie "Cars"?  In this anamated movie the cars have eyes in the windshields.  When I looked at the second pic the windshield looked like it has "eyes".  Especially the driver side (left hand drive) with something of the background showing through, it looks like an eye.

The overall impression of your painting is very impressive though.  Military vehicles during the war did not get great paint jobs from the factory and you have depicted the wear off of paint great!   Great job!

Are you serious thats all brush work WOW!

Okay, I'll "Fess Up" fellas, it's all brush work...done with my 30 year old Grummbacher fine and extra fine brushes.... thicker brushes at first for the drybrush and the finer ones for the 'chips'...all brush painted, that's all, nothing special.

The entire thing is hand painted....my 35 year old Pasche' airbrush took a dump on me a while back and I haven't replaced her as of yet.  I will probably give the rubber  - one more light wash of medium/dark grey to bring back a little of the rubber color.

I got the gun finished today, painted and mounted in the bed of the Blitz.  Still have some "Fine Tuning" to do but am probably 98% finished at this point.

It looks great!

You are absolutely right about the Dragon stuff having way too many parts!  I purchased 1/72 scale DML kits thinking it will have fewer parts, but boy was I wrong!  It has just as many parts as 1/35 scale kits, except A LOT smaller.

Got about 18 hours in it so far.  Most of which was spent on the gun.  Dragon stuff has a lot of parts!
