Really cool idea!

I would say add more rust, and maybe some vertical streaks (from rain?) like on the prototype.

And some bird****. I saw a sign once under a tree: "Birds poop every 15 minutes. How long have you been standing here?"

Nice work, Dan. A great way to recycle. I agree with the bird dookie, plastering it on the back would give it that much more conceptual dimension.

Anyway, I LOVE IT!  Count me as a lover of  all things old and rusted; haunted and with a story to tell! Old cars, junkyards, old rickety fermhouses, rusting construction vehicle...there's a beautiful, contemplative melancholy in such scenes, and you've captured that nicely in ths scene!

One suggestion I would make would be to improve the groundwork a little--some tufts of grass instead of the freshly-mown look you have there. A little more surface variation would really put it over-the-top!

One of the Tamiya figure kits--a panzer crew (reloading crew? At Rest crew?) has a nesting crow/raven bird figure. You can snag that and put it in! Bird-schmird... I've been relieved upon by a squirrel! Now that was messy.

Personally, I think the addition of the bird would be unnecessary, in fact... almost too obvious. I hold that simply the slight portrayal of their handi-work justifies the tree. A bird in the tree doesn't need to justify the "leftovers". Just my HO.

Only thing I can think of is that the rubber on the road wheels would likely be starting to deteriorate.  But, I can't think of a single way to model that at all.

You could pick a side to be the "lee" side out of the prevailing wind,  On that side, you could tam down abit of grass in a circle as a bit of animal nesting place.  One of those details that would caught by as many who missed it (unless they've seen beeves snoopzing in the shade of old dead farm tractors).
