Not a bad idea... The gear itself would hide a fair amount of the tubing from a couple angles... While I'm at it, I'd like to find some spoked wheels for the Dr1 as well as photo-etched cooling jackets for the guns...

Perhaps mount the plane on a clear lexan/plexiglass tube at the point where the landing gear hits the ruins. Most folks will understand that you have to mount the plane SOME way and I have seen a few plane dios using the clear mount.

Mounting the Dr1 is proving to be a problem.  Since the undercart is the point of contact with the ruins, I'm figuring the prop would have splintered, causing the engine to sieze instantly, and the Dr1 gear struts in the kit are pretty flimsy... There's a fair amount of weight that it has to hold steady so it doesn't act like a bobble-head... I may have to shelve this idea...  I haven't put the damage into the gear and prop yet, so the model is still good to go for something else...

Howdy... My current WIP is the scene from the movie The Blue Max where Von Klugermann's Dr1 (Revell's 1/28th Fokker Dr1) strikes the stone ruins with his landing gear, causing his early demise and a wearing of a dirt shirt.  I have the SPAD XIII pilot figure and the Dr1 figure kitbashed by using the head from the German figure on the SPAD driver's body, but I'm not happy with it.  There just isn't the right expression on its face, which is really no expression at all... Question is, can anone reccomend a suitable figure or am I doomed to the "Hollowflieger" I've constructed?

Also, I'm taking artisic license with the Dr1 and not using the lozenge camo as depicted in the movie.  One, they didn't get covered in that fabric, and two, it just looks wrong on a Dr1...
