They are expensive because it is Francois Verlinden's personal work. Considering his position in the modelling world (probably more so in the past than nowadays), it is a rare opportunity to own something fully custom by one of the biggest and most well known names in the industry.

Having said that, I wouldn't buy it.

Thanks for clearing that up zokissima, I've seen examples of Verlindens work before and I can understand why the price premium is there.

I don't think model builders are this seller's target crowd, so isn't commenting that we wouldn't buy the pieces really only stating the obvious? As in any art form, there are those who can, and those who can't and collect.

God bless those people, IMO.

I would rather by the kits and build them myself. Much more satisfaction knowing that it was something I built. Also I would'nt put SS cammo on a Wehrmacht officer.

There are some fantastic dio's on these pages, which kind of leads on to another question, what value do you guys place on your finished models and dio's.

A while back, FV had several individual figures listed on ebay.  Most of what I saw were in the $500 - $1000 range.  Anyone know if any of them sold?

Did ya notice that in the Field Kitchen one, the one guy is pouring the bottle over the dirt? It's nowhere near the guy's cup!

For $2700.00, I'd want my cup/bottle to line up! Sigh [sigh]

Very nice, but not for that price! Manny, you have the potential to be a millionaire, you too, doog, and HeavyArty. And a large majority of the rest of the modelers here, also (I am definitely NOT including myself in your ranks, by any means). $3,600 for a tank transporter and load?? Whew! But if they were signed by Francois himself..... naww! Thanks anyway.

I just ran across these on Ebay.  I remember looking at these dios when I was younger in the Verlinden Way books, they definetly inspired me to get into modelling, as I'm sure they inspired countless others.  I've never seen a high priced diorama on Ebay that I would pay that much for, but if I had the money I might buy one of his, their practically modelling history!  Just thought some might find them interesting.
