I started with the decals last night and sofar I am not really having allot of fun with them :-(

I wanted to do the Korea decals, the large central fuselage band (after breaking up) convinced me to do the other supplied decal scheme!

Then the nose decal on that scheme broke up...I got it somewhat inplace but not really 100%, so I will just beat this thing into submition anf complete it.

Theuns - I have extra decals for a postwar bird if you want them. They're Aeromaster or Scalemaster. Anyway, let me know.

Brandon that is most kind of you thanx allot :-)

I started putting microsol on these difficult decals and I think I will get them to go down a little better, just a pitty they cracked but I have to get the thing dome otherwize it will just sit in the box.

Atleast the ones that I think may give me hassles are on the bird so hopefully the worst is behind me.

Sure thing. Let me know if you change your mind. They came with my kit and I don't see using them, so they're spares. I also have a spare kit sheet, but they are wrinkled on the sheet. The one decal I used came off just fine, but I wouldn't trust them.

After a 3 hour decals marathin I got them all on last night, I will microsol all and see where I need to touch up before clearcoat.

I managed to beat the decals into submition and shoot a satin clearcoat over it so it looks like a well used plane but not loose the alclad effect.

In the bright sunlight in the pix it looks a little darker than it really is.

She looks pretty darn good to me Theuns! The fusilage and nose stripes look like nightmares to get right.

That looks so gorgeous. I love those bright early Cold War jets, and you pulled it off perfectly. Extra props for beating those decals into submission.

I am calling it done....

I did not go for the airshow finish but rather a used but well maintained "line" aircraft.

It is actually a very nice kit and I enjoyed building it.

After looking closely I see I forgot the pitot mast! Just added now LOL

Theuns, that isjust so, so gorgeous. Great job! I like the level of wear on it as a line aircraft.

What's next for you?

Theuns,

You've done great justice to a very nice kit.  The Sabre is my favourite jet, hands down.  You should be very proud of what you accomplished with your efforts.  Excellent work!

Mike

p.s. - now when do you start your S.A.A.F. Sabre 6?

The hassle with the SAAF Sabres were that they were all (when used in SA) Canadair Cl-13b's with the 6-3 slatted wing and I don't know of any out the box 1/48 sabres with those wings....it is just not right to build a hard wing SAAF sabre :-(

Sweet! :)
