No matter what i tried as far as masking, i still couldnt get it right. I finally started putting a strip of masking down, painting it the color or the fuselage on the outside and interior green for the inside.
I use a straight edge and a new #11 exacto knife to cut the tape. Works for me

I'd recommend purchasing the Parafilm from a Medical Supply vendor on the internet. I got a roll that was 4 inches wide, and 125 feet long for around $40 It will last me a lifetime, as most canopies can be covered with a 2X2 inch piece.

I've recently used the Ambroid liquid mask to good effect.

It is made by testors and you can get it at your local hobby shop. It is greta stuff that's what I use for my canopies too. It will stretch and bend around contours.

I use Parafilm and Bare-metal foil, both with excellent results. A quick tip using the Bare-metal foil: to safely remove the residue left behind use a product called Goo-gone Citris. Dampen a little on a Q-tip and gently wipe away the residue. The Goo-gone not only clean away the adhesive but seems to polish the canopy a bit too! Good luck!

PS: Look for Goo-Gone Citris at home improvemet stores and some supermarkets.

Have you tried/used bare metal foil?
You can find both Bare Metal Foil, and Parafilm at Micromark.com

Good luck

Second on the Parafilm. Good stuff. Cut it with a curved blade instead of a #11 for the best effect

I like using Parafilm. When stretched, it will adhere to any plastic surface, you can cut away any panel lines, or whatever, than paint, than peel off the remaining Parafilm, which leaves no left over adhesive for a perfect looking canopy.

Or if you are cheap like me......

......mask of the vertical glazing bars first, as this is easier than masking each panel individually, and then paint, starting with the interior colour first, before applying the outer colour.

Once all the verticals are complete, do the horizontals, and so on.

it is time consuming, but with a little patience produces a very neat canopy.

This isn't my idea, I got it from 'Eagles Wings', by Nicholas Wigman.
