P-47 Thunderbolt is my #1, with the Pitts Special (S-1S model) a close second.

No, it's actually the F-1SH.

Somehow, I knew you'd say that, hehe...

The Chance Vought F4U Corsair is THE plane. I'm also kinda partial to the McDonnell-Douglas F/A-18 Hornet. Oh, yeah - the McDonnell-Douglas F-4 Phantom II, and the McDonnell-Douglas-Boeing-Hawker-British AeroSpace-etc. AV-8 Harrier. The F-15 is also one of my favorites. Hmmmmmm - the F-86, the F-100, S-3 Viking, EA-6B Prowler, definitely the C-130, uhhhhhmmmmm, oh yeah, the P-51, the P-47, the P-38, the F7F TigerCat......aw, shoot, I've got too many favorites.Banged Head [banghead] It's hard to really choose just one. BUT, to choose one, it would have to be the Corsair.Cool [8D]Big Smile [:D]Laugh [(-D]

I guess my favorite is the P-51D. Followed by the P-38 and P-47. Love those fighters!

I would have to say the P-51 and a 2 way tie between B-25 and P-38 for 2nd place.

My favorites are the prototypes that Grumman produced.

These are their "Goose" and "Duck."

Favorite "Modern era" either the EA-6B or the Osprey
(I've as yet to build either of the Modern ero planes.)

I guess I am stuck on Prop planes I keep forgetting that my OTHER favorite is the Catalina

Since you didn't specify civil or war birds, I'll give you both. Smile [:)]

CIVIL - Beech Type 17 "Stagerwing". With it's plush leather cabin interior, retractable landing gear, and Art Deco look; the most beautiful civil aircraft ever built, with the possible exception of the Boeing 314 Clipper. Blush [:I]

WAR BIRD - Lockheed P-38 Lightening. The early models with the streamlined engine nacelles. With both machine guns and canon, very businesslike and very deadly.

Both the Stagerwing and Lightning look as though they are flying flat out while sitting on the tarmac. Wink [;)]

For military jets it is a tie between the F-4 Phantom or the A-10 Thunderbolt.
and for civilian it always has and always will be the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar. That was a beautiful airplane. When the airline I fly for retired them we had a chance to buy seats on them at around $75 a piece. I did not get one because I did not have a way to get the seat to my house. The other day I saw one of the seats for sale on e-bay for over $500.Shock [:O]

The Boeing B-29 Superfortress. This plane was the first ever to have a pressurized cabin & remote computer assisted turrets. Higher, faster, farther than anything in the air at the time, and a very influential aircraft with regard to engineering & design.

Just my 2 cents!

Geez, so many to choose from. My favorite plane is the F-14 Tomcat, but this is followed closely by the F-4, P-51, F6F, F4u, Bristol F2.b, and Spad 13 (in no particular order).

Rounding out the list, I'm very fond of the humble Cessna 172 and the less humble 182. Cirrus is a new manufacturer who make some absolutely beautiful and very modern GA aircraft: http://www.cirrusdesign.com/

I would love to own any of the three aforementioned GA planes. I just need to get my pilot's license first, and have a whole bunch of money second. ;D

I've always been partial to the F-15. Just a friggin cool airplane! Then again, I'm a rotorhead, so I'd have to go with the G Model Cobra and then the Apache, either A or D model. Just amazing machines. Can't wait till I get my own!

The CAC-15 ( And NO it is not a rip off of the P-51, the CA-15 out classed that!!)
