Of course, flying high beside her would be the rugged Curtiss Jenny.

Boy thats a hard one,there are so many.The best way I can do it;is by braking it down by country. 1-The jap zero clean fast and maneuverble.[how many of you out there know that the zero was developed by Howard Hughes and turn down by the U.S.A.A.F]
2-The U.S.N.HELLCAT,U.S.A.A.F P-47 THUNDERBOLT[a tank with wings]
3-luffawuffer FW190D[a fast tank with wings]
4-British typhoon
these are just the fighters/attack planes.so hard to choose.

WWII: P-51 - the best of the last before the jets. Fun to see these and the Texans at the air races in Reno.

Modern: F-14 Tomcat - still going strong after ...1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10... darn ran out of fingers. Facilitates just about any ordinance (within reason - I'm sure that does not include potatoes - too bad... that would have been pretty cool... a potato cannon on an F-14). Tongue [:P]

I like just about any airplane (as defined by FAR 1 - "an engine driven, fixed wing, heavier than air, aircraft that is supported in flight by the dynamic reaction of the air against its wings"). Therefore, my favorite airplane is the one of which I am making a model of (currently its the HS 129, the PT-19 and a JU-87D8).

Don't do helicopters, just don't care for them because:

A. They don't fly, they're so ugly the earth rejects them.

B. There are entirely too many parts going round and round and up and down at the same time, at high speed.

C. When the engine quits, it assumes the glide ratio of a brick.

D. They will fall on you and if you paint them OD green, people will shoot at you and they will still fall on you.

The B-17 is such a beautiful looking plane... don't really have a favorite fighter... maybe the P-47 for WWII and F-16 for modern stuff...

I've always been partial to the F-15. Just a friggin cool airplane! Then again, I'm a rotorhead, so I'd have to go with the G Model Cobra and then the Apache, either A or D model. Just amazing machines. Can't wait till I get my own!

Geez, so many to choose from. My favorite plane is the F-14 Tomcat, but this is followed closely by the F-4, P-51, F6F, F4u, Bristol F2.b, and Spad 13 (in no particular order).

Rounding out the list, I'm very fond of the humble Cessna 172 and the less humble 182. Cirrus is a new manufacturer who make some absolutely beautiful and very modern GA aircraft: http://www.cirrusdesign.com/

I would love to own any of the three aforementioned GA planes. I just need to get my pilot's license first, and have a whole bunch of money second. ;D

The Boeing B-29 Superfortress. This plane was the first ever to have a pressurized cabin & remote computer assisted turrets. Higher, faster, farther than anything in the air at the time, and a very influential aircraft with regard to engineering & design.

For military jets it is a tie between the F-4 Phantom or the A-10 Thunderbolt.
and for civilian it always has and always will be the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar. That was a beautiful airplane. When the airline I fly for retired them we had a chance to buy seats on them at around $75 a piece. I did not get one because I did not have a way to get the seat to my house. The other day I saw one of the seats for sale on e-bay for over $500.Shock [:O]
