who's kit is it ?

Well don't be surprised that the two kits are exactly the same I know Revell/Monograms Pro-Modeler line has Hasegawa's, DML/Dragon, and others for the line, also Revell of Germany owns Matchbox and I think Airfix too but not sure and they contract with Italeri if you look at the Tiger Meet F-16A it's the Italeri kit,also some of the kits Italeri offers are the old Esci moldes since AMT/Ertl was bought out a couple years ago so all the new Italeri kits of the S-3's, Jaguars are the old Esci's

Upnorth, it has those fences but the instructions say leave them off for the prototype. cheers for the info. i'll have a look for the italeri twoseater, thanks.

Revell makes one! Just saw it in the LHS the other day.

Does it have a pair of small fences on the intakes, one just behind and in line with each canard? If it does, that's a production variant, none of the prototypes had those.

The Revell and Italeri kits represent production Gripens.

I've heard Italeri offers single and two seat Gripens, is that all in the same kit or two different boxings?

not seen the italeri kit so i can't comment but it looks like it could be one of theirs. the airfix kit has markings for the second prototype. is this a kit of the prototype version? cheers. Greg

A trusted friend assures me that Airfix did it first. I know, I know, it sounds hard to believe-but he is adament. Strange but true?

I've only seen the Revell kit. It built up well and leaves a few openings for improvements.

I had no idea Airfix ever released a kit of it.

I just wish Revell would dust of its 1/32 scale molds of the prototype Gripen and rework them for a production variant.

Can't wait to see aftermarket decal options for the Gripen once South Africa takes delivery of their first one in a few years.

is it better than the italeri?

Only have the Revell kit, but I've never heard about Revell kits sold under the Airfix label...
