It's February of 2014. This is still a sharp-looking HO229, and my scratchbuilding bits & pieces are still sitting in a cardboard box in a closet. Embarrassed

Don't feel bad...........still haven't purchased a kit....local hobby shops are disappearing faster than snow
would melt around   .......... and ordering just one kit on-line isn't cost effective due to shipping charges.Embarrassed

Shipping...SHIPPING????!?!? Don't get me started on current shipping rates!!!!

You too?
I'm tellin' ya, shipping rates these days would make even the un-dead cry...........Crying

Looks great.  I'm afraid I have to drop out of the build.  I had to sell my H0229 kit to get my Daughter something for Xmas, and I don't think I can replace it.

KIds!!!

Gamera

vetteman42

Gamera that kit can be kinda tricky let me see if I still have the review of it that I can send you. If you follow the instruction sheet the wings to center section will be nothing less than a nightmare.

Thanks Randy! I hadn't planned on starting the Ho anytime soon but I'd love to see the review so I can print it off and put it in the kit box so I'll be sure to have it when I do start.

I had been kicking around the idea of doing a bigger version of my licence built J-Ho I did last year for the GB.

Big-Z: Thanks! Will do. Since the box was open I figured this Ho was slightly used Surprise

Gamera -- in terms of the sticking area problem, the two seater has a recontoured forward fuselage which improves things a lot. I have it in my stash now...

M/TB379

PS: The Acryls for RLM 78 and RLM 80 still haven't come into stock over here, and Sprue Bros don't list 80 on their site anymore... What gives?

Thank you gentleman for your kind words. Even with all the frustration of this build the end result is worth it to me.

Manstien the tarmac as you call it, is a red cinder block type stepping stone out in the backyard. I also want to thank you for running a rather unusal but fun group build. Its been a blast watching the gopings on here.

Now the question remains " Will Vance finish the paper Ho ? "

You're welcome...

As far as Vance finishing his paper HO?  Well my sources tell me there was a fire in the paper hangar the HO was being constected in that didn't fare too well for the HO...

Big-Z: Thanks! Will do. Since the box was open I figured this Ho was slightly used but seemed to be in good condition, I'd rather buy this way instead dealing with an unknown Ho from ebay.

Randy: Thanks, just printed off the article. Gee I just glanced over the instructions, glad you and Mr. Nelson pointed out just how off they are. The two-seater must be even worse!

Can't understand why eating at one particular table would be considered more important than bench time.........Hmm

Wow! Lost track of this and didn't even know it was still going on!

Just thought I'd drop by and present the haul I picked up at our local modeling show including my big HO I found for twenty-five bucks!

BTW Krakan  I think the only kits of the 229 in 1/48th are the Dragon/DML kit I picked up and the two-seater night fighter version also by Dragon. Unless you want to build one from paper and wood like Vance. Don't know about aftermarket but looking at the kit it seems pretty nice as is.

Put me we down for this one.haven't built a German plane or Flying Wing yet, so it'll be a double-fun build. Whats the best kit in 1/48? I want to do this beauty justice. And are there any AM items available for ir?

You're welcome---see, even Group Builds can be fun...

Now, take Fermis' advice and join the Swordfish/Cuda' GB...its almost as much fun and that RoG new-tooled Swordfish in 72nd scale is THE BOMB...plus you get a cool badge...
