Incredible work Foz, glad you have found the haven to work in and the time and patience. Its obviously a gift and a passion!

I have just got back to modelling after 30 years and am lucky enough to have my own hobby room in a far off quite part of the house, and a very understanding wife.

However, I only get in there two or three times a week due to pressure of business, so I am a straight from the box man right now whilst I re learn the skills. I am also an ex pat but live in rural Tennessee,

Cheers, and well done again, Ian

Cheers Ian.....yes my Wife is also very understanding and always lets me spend as much time as I like in my office! which as it happens is hours at the moment as she is back in the UK on visit!! ,,brilliant!

I also do OOB models...normaly when I am trying to decide what scratch built project I want to do next! I'm glueing together a Seafire FR47 at the moment.

Us ex pats get about a bit ..don't we !!!

Thanks again Ian

Ok who is the Dumb @ss  at the Ministry of Defense that told Supermarine that it was ok to install the fuel tanks in front of the pilot?

Hopefully they sorted that out in the later marks of the Spitfire?

That would be old man CG.  Most fuel tanks are located near the CG so balance is not upset as fuel burns off.  Many single engine fighters were that way unless they had enough wing volume to hold adequate fuel there.

Outstanding build and after 3 yrs of work, refs, detail!Bow DownBow DownBow Down

I guess I'll have to slow down my work just to add some more detail to even come close!  Being retired (with 35 unbuild kits) once I get my work shop fixed (new house, garage, etc.), you are my hero!Angel

Considering your location and the lack of mateials available........OUTSTANDING!Bow Down

Hope you contribute this build to FSM for all to see!Big Smile

For those of us who will probably never get the chance to see the innerworkings of a REAL Spit, you did it, amazing job! Toast  When you see all those wires and lines it makes me wonder how those crates stayed in the air taking a few 20mm rounds... of course, many didn't I suppose.

Holy Moly Cool

Where do you even find reference pictures to add detail like that?  When I want to add detail, I scour for weeks looking for reference photos and the best I find is restored planes with parts missing, or line drawings with approximations.  That is just unrealSmile

-Fred

Fred it took me months of researching the internet and books,I did one stage at a time...yes indeed a lot of scouring was neededSad
