P-61 Black Widow 1/48 Great wall Kit

this is how good that front on shot of your "Widow" looks to me.  This is a shot a few years ago of the Dolittle Raiders Reunion.

the only issue in the build is the cockpit window fitting in the front section, you need some putty to level the window with the fuselage to make it look ok, and the other thing, dont follow the instructions order it will make it difficult to build it, just use common sence and will be a nice kit to build

Certainly the nicest Widow I've seen.  Its hard to pull off a convincing black finish and you nailed it.  The exhaust stains look great too.  Reference the canopy, I had this same problem with the 40 year old Monogram kit I built a few years ago.  You would think that a company charging $100.00 for a kit would get this right.  Anyways, thanks for sharing.

Wow, oppenheimer, that's a nice widow! It's fine work like yours that makes me realize how far I've got to go before I'm creating some real works of art.

I love the variations in panel color. I think that is what really makes this aircraft.

Jeez, that Widow looks great! I don't think I've ever seen one better.  Man, just wow!!

good to know about the nose wheel since my A-26 has a tricycle landing gear. what poor english?

Waynec, yes the nose wheel tire never is flatened because the nose weight is light, normally they flatened when you step on the brakes and aply full throtle on the engine, then you will have a flatened nose tire.

i agree. the panels lines are not overdone. the cockpit looks great and the canopy painting is sharp. so many times a photo will pick outt canopy issues but none that i see.

i don't do many planes (will be starting a 1/48 A-26 fire bomber) and this is not a criticism but an honest question. the main wheels are flattened a bit as they have the weight of the plane but the nose wheel is not. is that because the nose wheel doesn't really have that much weight on it? hey all 3 are touching the ground which is an achievement and i do 8x8 wheeled vehicles.

Very well done- one of the best I've seen!

Love the subtle shading and tonal variations in the finish- that must have taken some time to mask and paint.   Weathering is right-on and everything just looks fantastic.

How long did you spend working on this?  (it was well worth it)
