Revell 1/48 B-17G Build

The area looks good but my kit says that aft bulkhead (the one shown in the last picture) should be painted aluminum.

Also what brand of paints are you using Jsmyth?

B-17 Guy.  I just made the shift into modeling and decided to jump into my passion of WWII aircraft.  I started with the B-17G in 1/48 from Revell but it lists most of my interior floor regions as Zinc Chromate (the yellow one normally used as a chemical resistant undercoating) and certain other areas as Zinc Chromate Green (the standard CARC color) is this an error on Revell's behalf

Nice start.  That ball turret looks great.  Having built several of these, to include the Revell F, I can echo B-17 Guy's sentiments.  Its especially tricky at the engine nacelles when you join the wings together.  Be prepared for a lot of sanding and filling.  In my opinion, its kind of a waste to super detail the interior because very little will be seen once it's all closed up.  I would concentrate around the nose compartment, pilots cabin and maybe the radio room.  

For the 50 cals, Quickboost makes a replacement set for the barrels. It even comes with the tail guns.  I used them on my last project and was very pleased.

Good start so far. Drilling the .50's is worth it. I do it on most of mine. Take your time with this build, dont rush. And if you dont know what dry fitting is you better become familiar with it, soon. There are problem areas on this kit that you'll find, I promise.

FYI, the interior on these should not be overall interior green. And fire fire extinguishers were not red in WWII either. The four openings in the wings behind each engine, these are vents, not exhaust ports, so dont paint black coming out of them.

I love this kit. built it a while back and am thinking about getting it again! the ball turret was a challenge for sure but it was something to test my masking ability, I taped it off before glueing the halves together, made handling it a little more easily. Good luck and post more pics!

looks good so far, you'll find its a good kit by and large, as for it being good for a Revell kit, its an old Monogram kit thats been around for years. You want to see rough, get your hands on a Revell 1/48 B-17F, now the same company, but extremely rough.

You'll enjoy this kit and build, I gaurantee it
