Wow....beautiful work Grant.  That Hobby Boss kit builds up nice.  I'm liking your interior green.  What did you use?  

Thanks mate, I used Vallejo Interior Green #010. And over that Is an Indian Ink wash for weathering

Not sure about the Eduard one as I have not built it, but I can tell you the Hobby Boss is a pleasure to build, and it is OOB with option to fold wings or not, cheap kit as well

Wow Grant!!!  I really love the authentic feel your weathering provides.  It's giving me some ideas and the knowledge of what a war weary paint chipped bird looks like.  I finished an F4U-1A not long ago, but was a bit afraid to put as quite much dry brushed metal as you did... I just thought it would be overbearing. But. it looks FANTASTIC!!!!

I've had the privilege of getting of visiting the Lady Lex several times since they turned her into the museum in Corpus Christi.  She is still a site to behold. I'm thinking about doing a diorama as an homage to her eventually, and it makes my heart sing that someone else is paying respect to her and those who served under her protection!  Thanks!!!  Raymond

Something I learned from Phil Flory is that when it comes to weathering and chipping, you can take it as far as YOU want, at the end of the day it is what pleases you and what you like, there will be always different opinions and what not on chipping and weathering, some like it, some don't. No one is right and no one is wrong!

For me, when I think of a WWII bird, I imagine they hard a hard life and copped a bit of a beating, but of course I vary to, not all my build are like that. It is good to mix it up and try different things.

That is one excellent Hellcat Grant. Your painting, weathering and detailing are extremely well done. I am currently building the Eduard 1/72 F6F-3 and have their 1/48 in my stash. It is great to see the Hobby Boss kit built up by someone as I have been curious about their quality. I'm aware that the Eduard is more accurate but as far as ease of assembly goes it sounds as though the Hobby Boss is quite comparable. Thank You for sharing your magnificent Hellcat with us.

Yes, I read somewhere that the Hobby Boss was not entirely accurate, so if someone is after better accuracy the Eduard would be the one to build

wOW, now that looks like the real deal.   I find myself studying your pics so someday I can achieve this level of realism.
