I'm aware of the fact that the IP looks terrible up-close in those pics. It's less crappy if you look at the model though.

To get this thread back on topic (hint, hint) here's some more pics. This time, IP and pit. Bear in mind that the engine/cowling area will get some more detailed painting later on...

I have browsed a couple of other reviews through Scalemates.com on this one also:

www.scalemates.com/.../product.php

I have no knowledge of what it must take to create/maintain a modelling company, but I guess I have to ask;  If we all can find these kinds of things from seemingly readily available materials, why can't the manufacturer of the kit do some more homework?

Sorry if this kind of thing has been discussed before, but it does seem kind of disappointing when you run into these kinds of things.  I can see subtle things especially around the areas of color schemes and some in the field mods as black and white photos are not conclusive, but wing length, size of the engine compartment, landing gear alignments and the like just seem like something that shouldn't get past Q/A.

Thanks.

Coming along nicely!

Looks like Zvezda is still tops for the 1/48 109 - maybe they will pick up the ball dropped by Eduard on the G version.

I concur.  Whats wrong with Eduard's new G? That thing looks awesome.......

Joe

My main issue with the new Eduard G-6 is the landing gear. They completely botched the gear so when its properly attached the legs are straight up and down, and the thing looks like a rocket pointed at the moon. If there's one thing to make sure you get right ona 109, its the landing gear angle! It can be corrected but involves cutting and filing..(also adjusting the gear doors as well). The other pressing issue for me is the too long wings. Set next to another 109 model the Eduard kit looks like a damn glider.

It is a fine kit, but I've built so many good looking Hasegawa's that I won't jump right out and build the Eduard one, just so I can spend my time correcting the gear and wings....

Just looking at pictures? Big Smile

Well, feast your eyes on the cockpit then, as far as I have come today. I must say, I never had such a detailed office in quarterscale (but then again, I haven't tackled an Eduard Profipack with PE)

No seat-bucket and stick yet, though. Hope you like it.

Guys, haven't you read my post? I said I'm gonna use the decals from the terrible Tevell/ICM kit (which I don't see myself finishing) in order to depict one of Marseille's plane. So trop camo it will be. :-)

I am working on the Revell one as some of you have been following, and it is a bear.  I will watch this one and would love to hear the differences.  I have a Hasegawa F/G in the stash.  Kit number 09774.  Anyone have thoughts on that one?  I have had it for a while and just never cracked it open.  Thanks.

Just picked up the f-2 version of that kit I guess there's something about wheel wells being oddly shaped

But the kit really looks nice.

Sweet. I'll watch this space

Yupper, me too.

Having just finished one a couple of months ago, and immediately ordering another with some resin upgrades, i can tell ya yer gonna love it.

As Nathan said.... AM decals kind of a given.  Any ideas what scheme you looking to do?  Desert?  Operation Barbarosa?

Sweet. I'll watch this space. I've been meaning to pick up this kit and build another F. The last one I did was a Hasegawa F-2. Nice but simple. Both these 2 kits do need aftermarket decals though.

Having recently bought a Revell 109F-4 Trop which I found of very mediocre quality, I decided to really needed an Friedrich worth building. So I ordered the Zvezda kit, generally regarded as the best Friedrich in quarterscale, which arrived today an, having started with the pit, I am confident this will be a great build. I'll build it oob (I know about the kit's shortcomings but they're minor in my book) except for some Eduard seatbelts and the decals from the aforementioned Revell kit, as I wanted to depict Jochen Marseille's plane.

I'll keep this thread updated with pics as I go.
