Sweet looking 'Cat.

The weathering is top notch, the finish came out great.

On the bench:  Tamyia Mosquito Mk. VI for the '44 group build.  Yes, still.

Hi Bvallot

The engine took me some 30 hours to build, I kept going back and adjusting things that I want to perfect.

yes your right a bout the wooden base, but it was a commission build and resides some were in California, so i dont know what it sitting on.

Very nice Wildcat. =]  A bird that pretty deserves to be placed "up" on something. I'd fashion myself a pretty wooden base if that were my Wildcat. =]  That engine looks great too.  How many hours went into something like that?

On the bench:

TThe Grumman F4F Wildcat was an American carrier-based fighter aircraft that began service with both the United States Navy and the British Royal Navy (as the Martlet) in 1940. First used in combat by the British in Europe, the Wildcat was the only effective fighter available to the United States Navy and Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre during the early part of World War II in 1941 and 1942; the disappointing Brewster Buffalo was withdrawn in favour of the Wildcat and replaced as units became available. With a top speed of 318 mph (512 km/h), the Wildcat was still outperformed by the faster 331 mph (533 km/h), more manoeuvrable, and longer ranged Mitsubishi A6M Zero. But the F4F's ruggedness, coupled with tactics such as the Thatch Weave, resulted in an air combat kill-to-loss ratio of 5.9:1 in 1942 and 6.9:1 for the entire war.

Serial: 50
Pilot - Capt.Josef Foss flew this Wildcat while stationed at Henderson Field, Guadalcanal on 12 November 1942. Camouflage: Blue-gray (FS35189) upper surfaces and light gray (FS36440) under surfaces.
