1/48 Academy F-4J

That is a great looking model, again, Darren.

Those nozzles are interesting,,,,,,,they look almost as if Academy just added "J feathers" onto a "B base"

oh, well, the aftermarket will only get stronger

Darren, this is the first I have seen a model of a C+B equals J buildup,,,,,,,did you write this all up to do an article? If not, you should consider it,,,,,,Academy is taking their time releasing a J kit, and the S might be even farther down the road. (unless they J/S their kit parts)

Gives you 1/48 kit-bashers lots of time to build some rare models before they get released and become mainstream kits.

I know I seem to be all over the place in this post,,,,,but, another Phantom thought,,,,,,do you have any noses for RF Phantoms? A kit bash of someone's RF nose onto Academy's Thin Wing boxing seems like a given also,,,,,,,I bet the RFs are wayyyy down their list of upcoming toolings.

Okay, enough of my distracting the 1/48 Navair guy,,,,,time to go back to my teeny wittle Navair models, lol

Thanks for the kind words. I was surprised that the ES decals were troublesome. I've never had any trouble before. In regards to the nozzles, I've found out that Academy molded an extra section that shouldn't be there, so if you follow the directions, as I did, the nozzles will stick out too far. I thought they looked kind of odd, but I wanted to use the kit parts.

Great looking conversion build there. Love those Phantoms!!  Odd you were having issues with Eagle Strike decals, I use them a lot and never had any problems with them, with Superscale decals cracking on me yes. Just went through a bunch of decals in the stash and I must have enough for 6-8 Phantoms so think I will give that Academy kit a try myself.

One thing I just noticed in the pics is that the exhaust nozzles appears to extend out a tad bit. Was there any issues with the intakes as found on the Hasegawa kits?
