woody0369Brandon, if you havn't seen it, Lawdog has an amazing build going on. Too bad he ran into a parts problem
I got some irons in the fire reference that part. All else fails, I may try to modify the part in question. Maybe it will be easy...who knows...
.....and thanks for the kind words guys, your far to kind...

I love it. Makes me want to start on mine. I also will pay close attention to the decals. Lawdog will get to his far before me and I'll see how that goes before I commit to ordering AM decals. Great looking build!!

I'd say you did a fine job wrestling that kit into submission! That is beautiful!

Really nice looking result here! I am building this very kit right now. I am currently building the gunners station...@#&*, #&*!! As if that part was not tedious enough, one of the more delicate pieces (the part that holds up one side of the gunners chair) was broken in two in the box :( Really bummed to hear about the decals.
Yours looks great though.

Alright Woody. I'll seek aftermarket for the insignias should I ever get to that point. Again, it looks great to me. I concur, it probably would have been easier to paint the rudder white, tape off the stripes appropriately, then spray the red. It still doesn't look bad from here...
Looks great to me,nice job on the weathering .Shame about the decals but it really does'nt detract from the build at all.

Thanks lawdog. Yes sir the decals in my kit anyway. They were very thin and brittle. I should just tear them off the vertical stab and paint it (I may still), but I was irritated by that point and just wanted to be done. The roundels would never settle into the panel lines, even after I cut them and applied several coats of micro-sol and micro-set. Disappointing to say the least. Everything else was fantastic though. Great kit overall
Nice! There's nothing to be critqued.....it looks great. I hope to get back going on mine soon. So Accurate Miniatures decals are bad, mental note made.
Thanks again guys
Marc
Sweet!
Thanks guys but the pics don't do justice to just how bad the decals for this kit are
Well done!

Hard to critique that at all....phenomenal job.
Looks very nice! The weathering is really fine.

Well here's my finished Accurate Miniatures 1/48 SBD-3. This kit was a bear for me. Very small detailed parts that had to be installed precisely per instruction. Nothing really seemed to go right with it. AM kits have amazing detail though and I am pleased with how it turned out. Here,s some pics, please critique ( that's how we improve, or so I've been told). Now to start on my group builds. Enjoy
I did some mod to the engine. The kit supplied a ring with push rods and fuel/ignition lines attached, however they were grossly out of scale. I cut them and used the fuel ring itself, added push rods and fuel lines. This was one part of the kit I really enjoyed. It's a shame it's all covered up by cowling
