1/200 Hasegawa TWA 767-200
Posted by Fly-n-hi on Sunday, November 2, 2014 10:00 AM

Hi guys!  Here's a build I just finished recently.  Its the 1/200 Hasegawa 767-200 with TWA markings.  The kit is OOB with aftermarket decals.

The decals were Flightpath decals and frankly they were terrible.  I'm not saying that to be mean spirited or insulting but the fact is they were not good at all.  The twin stripes didn't even come close to lining up on the fuselage the way they were advertised to.  I ended up trashing them and painting the stripes on.  And the logo decal on the tail is way too large and the angles aren't correct.  The rest of the marking were ok.  I used Draw Decals 767-200 detail sheet for the windows.

The bare metal areas were painted using Alclad II paints.  The shiny areas were Alclad II polished Aluminum over Alclad II Gloss Black Base.

Thanks for looking!  Hope you enjoy!

I thought the different colored metal panels would look good but I'm not sure I'll do that again.

We've got an Airliners GB going on now if any of you are interested.  This kit wasn't part of that, though.

That looks really great Fly!

I love the NMF panel differences on the bottom, that really makes it.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Thank you, Steve!  I think it turned out ok but I do think I over did them just a little.  I also wish I had filled in the panel lines on this one.  They are really deep and unnatural looking and tend to draw the eyes a bit too much.

Great looking build. There's something about the 76 that I like.

Nice job, mate.  True - in this scale, the panel lines should be virtually invisible - but you did a great job on those wrap around decals - they can be a real bear.

That's a pretty model - very pretty.

Cheers, LeeTree

Thank you, 7474!  I agree.  The 767 is a nice looking plane.

Thanks, leemitcheltree!  I appreciate that.  Just to be clear, though, the red stripes are painted on.  I couldn't use the decals since they were so bad.

Post this in the Civil Aircraft forum too.  That forum is really thin lately and needs posts!

I was just thinking that the two aircraft forums should be renamed, for clarity, into Military Aircraft and Civilian Aircraft.  I'm going to post that in the Forum Technical Help forum.

Just kidding, I'll post it in the appropriate forum, unless, of course, the Forum Technical Help forum turns out to be the correct place.

Not sure this is the right forum for this question but here goes.  I'm looking for 1/200 scale models of the Hellcat, Avenger and Dauntless for a 1/200 CV6 Enterprise project.  I see that Shapeways and Armaments in Minature offer some options but they do not appear to have clear canopies.  I would appreciate anyone who could steer me towards a source for these models that include clear canopies. Thanks

That is a beauty.  Painting red on white is tough, at least for me.  And I think the different color metalics turned out great.  Acknowledge the Zombie thread - thanks John for resurecting.

Thanks,

John
