Tamiya 1/48 "betty" WIP
Posted by tates on Saturday, January 24, 2015 8:26 PM

Hey guys, I'm doing this build as part of the Japanese group build. I'll be doing it oob with a set of montex masks.

Lets get started, cleaning up interior parts and dry fitting for priming

time to prime

aall primed up

while I was waiting for the primer to dry I cut out the torpedo hole in the bottom panel

Time for paint, Tamiya calls for rlm gray, but I'm going off the board and use mitsubishi interior green from ak interactive, part of their ijn colours set

First coat done, one more coat befre bed then I'll pick out details tomorrow

Awesome! Don't see many of these being built up. How are you finding the AK paints so far? Can't wait to see the Montex Masks at work.

I've been using ak paints for a while and have liked them a lot. These air series sets need to be thinned unlike their regular stuff though. As for the montex masks, I just finished a p-51 that I used montex canopy and marking masks and I can't say enough about them, They go easy, don't bleed and don't leave marks coming off.

Absolutely!  When I first saw the kit price a while back my jaw dropped.  I'm happy to see someone put one together.  I'll be watching eagerly. =]

Thanks guys, I got this kit for $43 big ones on ebay, I figured it was a pretty good deal. I have to get pretty much all my kits and supplies online since I don't have a local shop.

Not much progress today, I've just been detail painting.

Got mine on evil for just about that price as well.  I see we are both going green inside.

Good start.  The PE for the interior is a bear, (first try with PE though.)

So much masking. I never wanna see a piece of clear plastic again Tongue Tied

I used a montex mask set so it was a lot easier than it could have been. But it still took a long time because I did the insides too.Having a little trouble getting the fusalage halves to stick together so I had to walk away from it for a bit.

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of updates. I haven't been making very good progress lately due being pretty sick and work being busy. I've got all the clear plastic painted, as well as the engines and landing gear. Last night I got under belly painted grey, next step is to mask off the camo on top. I'll try to post some pics soon.

I order my montex masks from either bna modelworld or Victoria midels. Both have an excellent selection

Hello !

Now you make me want to get mine out and build her ! I waited a lot of years and there was one for $20.00 on consignment at my LHS .You know , I almost tripped over my own feet getting my hands on it . What a nice pile of detail to do . You've done it up proud so far !

update!!!

Engines are done,

Started the camo, used the same colour it called for, but it looks too dark. I might mix up a lighter shade
