Seems like a good enough time to ask: What exactly is a group build?

Adam, a GB is where a bunch of modellers on the forum all get together and build models of a related subject. You post progress pics as you go along and everyone shares info and so on. If you lok here, you will see a number of on going GB's and if you take a look at them that will give you a better idea.

cs.finescale.com/.../29.aspx

And this is something I posted a couple of years ago to help new members many of whom were not sure what GB's were and what it entailed.

cs.finescale.com/.../154045.aspx

Seasick, nice idea, we have had a couple of these in the past, the last one being 2012/13. But a couple of suggestions if you don't mind.

It would help if you put in more detail, start and end dates for example. And second, in my own personal opinion, there are currently to many GB's already, currently 30. You might want to wait until later in the year when hopefully it will be down to a more sensible number, 12 or so.

well, that's my view anyway.

Well this is just a feeler. Nothing set in stone yet. Up until today I suspecting no interest because it sat around a week with no replies. But how about it being a summer build. Start Memorial day and end Labor day.

It's a pretty cool idea Seasick. I remember seeing this and then it scrolled off the bottom of the first page and I forgot about it- sorry. I like the idea but as Bish said there's so many GBs going on right now you might want to wait. I've had to restrain myself from jumping into Model Crazy's Mustang GB and a few others. I might be interested in joining in sometime in the future when things die down a little.

FWIW, I'm in the same boat, can't keep up with my current GBs. I've been wanting to build a Do-335 (which I think would qualify), but that won't be for a year or more down the line.

I do think it is very cool GB idea, even if it is a re-do. GB re-do's are fun, IMO. (and I don't think I was here during the last one anyway)

This could be a go. I'll write up some rules and repost on the group build board. Because of the glut of group builds right now I'll set the preliminary starting date to be August 15, 2015.

There is certainly nothing wrong with re doing GB ideas, especially if enough time has elapsed, and I think it certainly has for this idea. This is the last prototype GB if anyone would like some ideas.

As a Luft 46 fan I am certainly up for this. I will be doing one for the 1946 What If GB next year, but I certainly have enough to cover this as well.

Seasick, I would this also include aircraft that only existed on paper.

Hi, Everyone I've been looking at the GB schedule and it is jammed up. I'm thinking of putting this one off

for some time because of the backlog. I'm moving the preliminary start date to November 2015.

THis should allow for current projects to complete and more time to research aircraft you might want to build.

seasick, I think that is a great idea. As long as the forum can avoid another wave of off the cuff GB's, by Nov we should be down to a more manageable level and this will be a good one to run into 2016.

Hello BISH et al.

Its been over a year, but I have a CF105 and TSR-2 1/48 kits in boxes. I didn't want to start until I get a proper cockpit and landing gear setups. I've been waiting longer than that on an order of aftermarket parts for the CF105 from Mastercasters, but they have been unable to fulfill the order.

But- I found that Hannants has the CF105 cockpit and I will have to get it there. Did this GB ever happen?

Jay at Mastercasters has yet to reply to my requests for any parts that would help me, since he has opted out of the CF-105 and most of the CF-100 bits.  He had TSR bits, but I think those are gone too. Hannants has a good selection now and I will depend on them.

I would love advice on building 1/48 CF100!

That GB is a TERRIBLE idea!!!  Especially after these showed up at my door yesterday:

The T-10 is actually for a friend, so it doesn't count.  That's my story and I'm stciking to it.

A suggestion for the GB - how about "Flops, Failures, and Fiascos"?  Or "Dead Ends, Duds, and Distasters"?  Maybe expand it to encompass armor, autos, and any other subject that didn't make the cut.

I don't think this GB ever "got off the ground" (pun intended).  Wink  And seasick has not posted since 2015.

I wouldn't mind firing it back up, I'm still in for the YF-23 if we do it.
