I really like the E versions of the 109, and you have done a great job on this one. What comes to mind as I look at your first airbrushed camo job is: " I am not worthy." knox

That is a show winner Brandon. I read about the raised lines of the splinter outline. To minimize that try to keep the coats very light, setting the psi low and spray away from the tape line to avoid paint buildup. Using sanding pads like you did can fix the problem and was a good call.

Those Tamiya kits just fall together right out of the box. Fantastic paint and mottling. Beer

Too many models to build, not enough time in a lifetime!!

And Lawdog, yeah it was my first attempt. I learned some things. I overlapped the splinter when I masked it, and I had some slight raised lines that show if you look at the wing national insignias in the right light. Next time, I'll hit the ridges with some micro mesh to hopefully mitigate that.

The mottling was freehand, and while I am usually loath to blame good or bad work on tools, I will say that the Badger Sotar 2020 with the 0.2mm needle is the only reason that was able to happen.

Great work, Brandon -

Just the right amount of subtlety for the camo, very realistic and a fine representation of Gallands airplane, as it would have appeared at that time. Thanks for posting, I enjoyed seeing it.

Completed - Tamiya 1:48 Bf-109E

I've got this one going in a couple of the group builds going on, but thought I'd share it here.

The kit is the 1:48 Tamiya, and I used Techmod decals for Adolf Galland's markings. Bf-109 nuts will notice three or four inaccuracies that I'm aware of, but I really enjoyed this kit, and it's the first camouflage scheme I've attempted with the airbrush. Can't wait to do more!

This is a JG-26 aircraft, and I wanted to build it after reading the book "JG26: Top Guns of the Luftwaffe," which was very well-researched, and Galland wrote the intro. Hence his plane.
